There's a lot of money at stake. I say let the man play. Give him a 20-foot bubble. Make him wear six masks. Or seven, whatever.

This man already won this tournament. It's not like he's on a performance enhancing drug. He's sick. If he wins it'll be like Robert Redford in Field of Dreams.

Typical unvaccinated selfish person wants all of the benefits (in this case, not getting COVID and not having to drop out of his sporting event) given to those who were willing to do the work (getting vaccinated) without having to do the actual work.

No sympathy*.

*unless he is immune-suppressed and therefore unable to vaccinate, in which case, sorry dude. That sucks.

PGA should require vaccinations of all participants at their sanctioned events.  Oh wait, that would cost them money.  Can't have that.  Certainly not at the expense of safety or social welfare.  Now you boy, wash my balls.

Yep

I have ZERO sympathy for anyone over the age of 18 who is still catching COVID at this point.

That's bullshiat.

My wife had a double lung transplant in 1997 and was told she was first in line for a vaccination back in Feb.

Her transplant doctors all agreed that it was a must have for her.

Heck, I had major surgery and got a shot less than 3 weeks later. They wheeled me in, got my shot, wheeled me out.  There was more concern with my transportation than the shot.

No. Robert Redford played Bob Dobbins in Field of Dreams. He famously won a meaningless game late in a losing season by getting hit by a pitch right on the seam of his recent brain surgery, which unfortunately killed him, but also drove in the winning run. They dragged his lifeless body to first base and then left him for the groundskeepers to take care of. Not one of my favorites.

Only contraindications are covid within the previous 90 days and if you're allergic to the ingredients of the vaccine. No comorbidities prevent people from being the vaccine.

The only immune suppressed issue could another vaccine within 2 weeks. Regardless it's June. Unless he been getting another vaccine since late March or early April every 2 weeks, he's had time to get at least the first dose.

Ditto my wife.  An auto-immune disease, three open heart surgeries, and on going chemotherapy and she was told to get the shots.

In fact, the CDC recommendation to get the shot is for immuno-compromised people in particular since the danger from COVID is much greater than any theoretical concern from the vaccine.

Correct me if I'm wrong but when I got my second shot, I was told I wouldn't be "vaccinated" until 2 weeks after. If that is the case and unless he got the J&J shot and unless it doesn't have the 2 week wait period after then he was not vaccinated. He simply received a shot. So no, he has not been vaccinated.

The reason why the wording is important is so the anti-vax crowd can't use him as an excuse of "it doesn't work" and so those just getting the shot realizes they are not protected the moment they get shot 1.

Tuesday will be 2 weeks after my second shot. As of now, if asked, I tell people I've received both shot but not vaccinated yet. Come Tuesday, I can then feel safe to tell people I've been vaccinated.

The reported protocol for the PGA states that vaccinated players don't require daily testing after close contact. He was being tested daily after close contact.

So getting vaccinated was only a priority after he realized that he could actually catch the damn thing.  Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.  And now someone else is going to play a stupid game and win his $1.6 million.

Tour should have pulled him right off the course instead of letting him finish thr round and allowing further exposure.

I think the question is less can they physically get the vaccination and more will they show an immune response after getting a vaccination. The latest studies I've seen suggest fewer than 1 in 5 immunocompromised people show antibodies after being fully vaccinated.
