How in the everloving fark has the owner to the Goldeneye license not done a remaster with updated graphics? Hell, just do multiplayer and 4-player rounds (maybe up to 8). They'd make a fark-ton of money with minimal effort just from nostalgia players. It would be hilarious to play with my friends online in a game we haven't played in 15+ years.

Goldeneye had a single player game?  I only ever played the four player game.

I hope the maker let that seed for a bit before releasing it to the world.

No Oddjob, but you'll keep Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist, right?

I will not have you disparage the name of DOCTOR Christmas Jones, who is apparently a pleasure to visit during the holidays.

The Brocoli estate probably insisted on using the then-current 007 in the remaster.

Pretty sure Nintendo killed that.

Maybe. "Everything or Nothing" was a better video game anyway and would have made a better movie than  the last few.

They no longer have the licence. That's why it isn't included in Rare Replay on the Xbone. The same goes for their games with Nintendo characters.

That collection does include Battletoads, though. Which is nice as apparently many people are looking to buy a copy of that from Gamestop and they should have it in stock.

A bigger travesty was letting "No One Lives Forever" die.  A franchise created to avoid a franchise fee, then allowed to die.  I don't know if they made the planned third (which was designed to suck) or canceled it, but the whole franchise is pretty much dead.

Whoever did it must still be a virgin though

I spent an embarrassing amount of time going "okay, but where can I download the actual mod?" before I remembered the in-game level editor was accessible, well, in the game itself.  Definitely going to have to give this a run, though.  Shame the creator lost interest before completing the two bonus levels, but it's not like he owes us anything, and what he did is amazing.

/I'm just kind of assuming the creator is a "he," but let's be honest, this kind of obsessive insanity over a video game...  Only a guy would consider this a good use of their time..

If they did a straight up remaster of the original with better graphics and actual dialogue for Nintendo Switch or something, they'd have to shut up and take my money.

Probably the same kind of licensing hell that prevents BioWare from making MDK3.

Rare does not currently have the James Bond license. Until and unless they get the license to make Bond games, they can't make an updated rerelease of Goldeneye. And since Rare owns all of the original assets of the game (basically almost everything except most characters' names and likenesses), no other company can make an updated rerelease of Rare's version of Goldeneye.

/this does not prevent them from making an updated rerelease of Perfect Dark

Only two games were released. I think you're right, but there is always the outside chance that it might get picked up again. The game Evil Genius from 2004 just got a sequel this year. There's a new Dizzy game from the Oliver Twins on the Spectrum, the first since 1992. It looks absolutely stunning, too. And it's free.

There are several more examples. I saw recently that Hungry Horace is now for sale again via Steam.  I don't know if that means that any new Horace games are on their way, but it's possible. Old franchises are getting renewed, and as No One Lives Forever is a legitimate classic, it might happen.

Well, it is an I.P. that does need permissions to use characters, and then you need the model's permissions. that's more than likely why the Avengers game has discount Avengers model's, and not the actual actors.

You have to admit that licensing your I.P. is a financial decision. It is smarter to get new people playing, not just nostalgia.

Remaster in unreal engine 5 with ray tracing and all, release it on all consoles and pc, they would make a shiat ton of money.

Of course they'll never do that because nintendo.

What, did you also hate Complex?

I wonder if this the same team that did GoldenEye Source. They did a really good job honestly. I haven't tried a FarCry version.

No, my other stage that I absolutely hated was Temple. Would be fun to try out the game again. Unfortunately, my hands are shiat and not good on the twitchy-fire pew-pew games.
