Why not? She was rightly protesting the child abuse and coverup of said abuse by the church.

I suspect she is retiring from the business aspect only, as she refers to herself as a warrior.

She will probably always be found somewhere, just singing to please herself and whatever little crowd around her.

I've known too many people that burned out on some aspect of their profession, just to find a way to keep doing the part they loved after they retired.

I knew a couple of Muslim girls in high school that needed to preserve their virginity (that would be tested) for marriage that were VERY sexually active in every other way.

The Catholic Church (at least in America) is essentially nothing but an anti-abortion Super PAC these days anyway. Trump basically told the Pope to go fark himself AND Joe Biden is a practicing Catholic, yet American Catholics couldn't be more excited to vote for Trump

She made a bizarre gesture on national TV without supplying any context whatsoever. I think the "unglued" vibe she gave off may have been what caused her to be ostracized.

Actually now that I look the Catholic vote was split almost 50/50. But the point still stands that under normal circumstances the Catholic Trump vote should be closer to 0 than it was

She made some great music and was wrongly pilloried for her criticism of the Catholic Church - when it turned out everything she said about the church was true, if not far worse.

I suspect she has been suffering from mental illness largely due to the abuse she endured when enslaved by the church, so I'm going to give her a lot of slack for some of the crazy statements she has made.

If I recall right, didn't she say, "Fight the real enemy," after tearing up the photograph?

Given the darker aspects in the history of organized religion, I thought the broad context was perfectly clear.

I had to finally point out to my folks that Pinocchio** was the walking embodiment of the seven deadly sins, and that he broke 9 of the 10 commandments on a weekly, if not daily, basis. The 10th I'm not sure of.
They voted for Biden. I'm sure they won't ever vote for another (D). That's how bad of a person Pinocchio** is. People that voted straight (R) their entire life couldn't stomach him, and voted for a Choice Catholic.
I am depressed thinking that 70M voters said "ya, more of that!".

"Fight the real enemy" isn't great context for the vast majority of the population. Especially in the early 90s

https://www.americamagazine.org/politics-society/2020/11/06/catholic-vote-donald-trump-joe-biden-election-split

Speaking as a more liberal Catholic, this split exists because the parties have split the difference between traditionally Catholic beliefs. The church doesn't believe in abortion, but it doesn't believe in the death penalty, either. It accepts evolution, but dictates an underlying hand of God in the creation of the universe. It believes in a strong advocation of social justice, but it also requires individual responsibility for your actions.

To be a Catholic in America is to either choose a side or remain consistent. If you are completely consistent with Catholic beliefs, you cannot be a member of either political party - each one violates some tenet of the faith. So we've come to an agreement where everyone is halfway depending on how they vote. American Catholics vote less by religion and more by geographic area, which is another Catholic church feature - adopting the customs of the areas they move into. They will stress areas their population will agree with and downplay the ones that don't.

They can't be all that god fearing when they continue to support an organization with a long history of kidnapping, raping, torturing, and murdering children.  Unless their god supports those actions, in which case their god is a psychopath.
