Anthony Davis or Joel Embiid...who is the largest piece of fragile crystal in the NBA?

Seems to be a tossup.

LeBron.

Prior to the loss, James had a 14-0 first-round series record in playoff appearances for the Lakers, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat.

Yeah the guy is a total failure.

On one hand, screw the Lakers. OTOH, I'm not super-confident how well my Nuggets match up vs. Phoenix.

Good, always like to see the guy who criticizes Morey for speaking out against police brutality win as many playoff series as the Rockets.

Unhinged hatred? Uhh...no.

Pointing out that he's probably the 6th or 7th greatest player ever, but he's not even close to the GOAT? Yeah, that's closer to truth.

No, it's the thread where Bronies will go out of their way to find some Michael Jordan shortcoming so BronBron can still be the best in their eyes.

These playoffs are shaping up to be a lot of fun.  You've got some great matchups, no big market teams, but really fun players.

They may be associated with a big market now, but they don't have nearly the same draw as the Knicks.

I don't know how anyone can possibly put him outside of the top three (I don't count centers in the discussion since their game is so different).  And while I'll lean Jordan in the GOAT discussion, it's perfectly valid to include Lebron in it.

For me if you judge on athleticism and play making, he's the best. Made plays no else could. But I've seen him be a shiatty teammate and coach killer and GM killer, and fragile ego that flops, wines, and pouts and quits. Last night was awful. Multiple incidents this series alone where he would wine to the refs while the other team went down court and he strolled back and quit on them. I don't care what he does off the court in this context but I find his personality so toxic as a player on a team sport that I would not rank him top 10.

He plays to be famous, more than he plays to win.

Winning makes you famous; so the two usually go hand in hand. But I suspect that if push came to shove, Lebron would choose to be Charles Barkley (0 rings) over Scottie Pippen (6 rings, in Jordan's shadow)

This is when you know when people don't really watch basketball.  Jordan's greatest strength aside from his vertical and quickness was the size of his hands, which is just a little bit harder to tell when 90s television is so blurry compared to day.

To put in perspective, he has slightly bigger hands than Kawhi Leonard.  That's what allowed him to finish the way he did, play defense, shoot mid-range over guys etc.  The vertical put it over the top,

Lebron's an unbelievable playmaker with a photographic memory, to the point he has every other teams playbook memorized.  Unlike Jordan though his hands are so small he can't palm the ball.

Jordan wouldn't be able to do the things he did in Lebrons body, Jordan had cat like quickness and used his hand size to his advantage.

Like he's not gonna be able to move Lebron's 250lb body as quickly as Jordan could to circle around defenders, nor will he be able to finish with the same flair that palming the ball allows.

Regardless, my point is Jordan's mental game didn't give him his hand size, but his hand size sure contributed to his mental game.

It's a very American thing to think that people are successful just because they want it more. People act like Michael Jordan had the athleticism of some NCAA bench-warmer but willed himself into being the greatest ever. I exaggerate slightly, but still....

Depends on format. For points a man who is a triple double machine is def gonna go top 3. For categories he'd be in the same boat bc he contributed across the board where most people only hit 2-3.

I don't see how the blurriness of television impacted my view of Jordan while I was at games watching him live. Would you mind explaining that one to me? Come to think of it, the Jumbotron at  McNichol's wasn't all that great.

And I am well aware how hand size can help in sports, just look at my username. Sure large hands, helped Jordan but that's not what made him so special. Lots of people who could easily palm the ball washed out of the NBA. I am curious how big hands helps with mid range jumpers over a defender more than an extra 4 inches of height and longer arms does.

You think Lebron has every other team's playbook memorized and that's why he's so good? That's funny. Yeah, he's got great spatial awareness but he's not psychic. Jordan had a higher steals per game average (oh, must have been his 4ft  hands filling the entire passing lane)

It is nice how you are trying to completely discount any physical advantage Lebron has over Jordan and make him into some sort of Professor X, crippled except for his amazing mind. Yeah, there are some things that Jordan couldn't do in Lebron's body, but there are more parts of Lebron's game that he couldn't do as a 6'5" guard.  Things like court vision, post game, rebounding, blocks, would all suffer and I just don't see Lebron being able to overcome that.

You Lebron advocates are amusing though. You'd think I compared him to some scrub.

I am a bit torn.

Fark the Lakers fans. Having them eat shiat for a few decades like Montreal Canadiens and Raiders fans would be welcome in my book.

But LeBron winning a second title puts a big stab in the bullshiat mythos here in LA about Saint Kobe Bryant, which I find just as annoying when Lakers fan forget how much of a snake he was poisoning and constricting then own beloved organization. See, LeBron is just the third version of Michael Jordan. Kobe was 2.0 but the NBA realized charisma counted as a stat that means more than smiling for commercials and foreign promotions.  MJ and Kobe were assholes in the locker room and scared off free agents that would have helped them win more championships without David Stern or ref manipulations. LeBron grasped this.

Is LeBron the greatest? F--k no. Neither are those two others. I'll put him ahead of Kobe though.

I have grown to like LeBron. A kid that goes from high school to NBA superstar end up in a pretty bad way. Not every pro athlete (especially the superstars) would learn from mistakes like "The Decision" for example.

I'm not pretending. I'm saying they don't count in the GOAT discussion. In my opinion other positions bring so much more skill to the game over what a center has traditionally done.

Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadu: drewogatory: I don't know how anyone can possibly put him outside of the top three (I don't count centers in the discussion since their game is so different). And while I'll lean Jordan in the GOAT discussion, it's perfectly valid to include Lebron in it.

So he's top 3 if you pretend Chamberlain,Russell and Abdul Jabbar didn't count?

I'm not pretending. I'm saying they don't count in the GOAT discussion. In my opinion other positions bring so much more skill to the game over what a center has traditionally done.

If you can do a center's job and be a top tier scorer, you deserve that seat in a GOAT discussion.

TDWCom29: Jack of All Games: Gubbo: Intone: Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadu: The Bestest: and Brooklyn is still very much a favorite.

They may be associated with a big market now, but they don't have nearly the same draw as the Knicks.

Straight Outta Wells Branch: Pointing out that he's probably the 6th or 7th greatest player ever, but he's not even close to the GOAT? Yeah, that's closer to truth.

What did I say about unhinged hate. This is a player that made 8 straight finals, often dragging teams behind him that didn't deserve to be anywhere near the finals. But he doesn't play to win.

Sure.

He said "MOREthan he plays to win."

Winning makes you famous; so the two usually go hand in hand. But I suspect that if push came to shove, Lebron would choose to be Charles Barkley (0 rings) over Scottie Pippen (6 rings, in Jordan's shadow)

Haha, sure he would. He stayed in Cleveland to be the unquestioned top guy instead of going to Miami to try and win championships! Oh wait...

He went to Miami so he could be both. He wasn't as far above the rest of the team like he was in Cleveland, but he was still their undisputed #1. Compare to KD joining the Warriors and ending up as Curry's "Pippen".

Obviously Lebron doesn't want to be Barkley or Pippen, but if some magic genie told him he HAD to choose between only those two, I think he picks Barkley.
