The Googles Do Nothing: Who the hell is still getting covid in the US?

By filming in the UK

Cruise has talent. Why he insists on wasting it reprising the same character who must never die (lest the cash cow die as well) is a mystery. Seems like the last time he ever took a creative chance was for Tropic Thunder, and that was something that could have been laughed off as a farce had he not nailed it. Stop rewarding chickenshiat actors (looking at you, dudes who only do superhero movies).

The unvaccinated, at the same rate everyone was getting it back in January.

If it's a cast member, they're blacklisted.
If it's behind the scenes crew, they're fired.

You may not like the dude's personality, but it's his production and he warned them.

Amazing.

How the hell are all these people not vaccinated?  I'd think that'd be a mandatory requirement to work on a film set at this point.

Lots and lots of people. The worse days of the entire pandemic have been in the last few weeks, and even places doing a remarkable job are slipping into lockdowns, like Melbourne.

In the UK though, there's no excuse - there is no longer a shortage. 15 people means one hell of a lot of the crew/cast aren't vaccinated. Given it was a nightclub scene, I'm guessing it was 1 day extras lying about their vaccination status? No way Cruise doesn't insist on regular crew being vaccinated.

But the reality is "Nowhere".

The Mission movies are his (late) midlife crisis.

Want to hang out in Dubai? Write it into the movie.
Want to learn to fly a helicopter? Write it into the movie
Hang off the side of a plane as it takes off? Force Superman to keep a mustache? All things are possible when you are the producer AND the bankable star

Heh, I misread the post.

The US is still doing pretty awfully - if you strip out the vaccinated and then adjust for population accordingly, the unvaccinated are still being infected and hospitalised at January rates.

That's not currently happening in most other Western countries unvaccinated populations, bar a couple in Asia. I'm sure most places will have significant spikes come winter though among unvaccinated populations unless they get the vaccinated percentage up into the 80%ish, and hopefully those Luddite communities don't churn out new vaccine resistant variants that threaten us all.

You do realize a person can be against bad things happening to people without being personally affected by it, right?

Oh yeah, forgot about the HALO jump. If he weren't the one controlling the purse strings, there's no way a production lets their Major Star do that. That's the exact reason that stunt doubles exist

I may not be a fan of Tom's "religion," but I can't fault him for his work ethic.

Films are for art.  Movies are for money.  He makes movies and isn't raping people like spacey and that fat, hairy, ugly producer.

Anyone on his crew that got Covid should be blackballed permanently, as all trump worshipers should be.

There is talk of it being a requirement, but it isn't yet.

We're going to lose a lot of the construction people once they require vaccinations.

Flincher: The Googles Do Nothing: Who the hell is still getting covid in the US?

The majority of Trump's base.

If you took every single person that voted from trump and split that in half (to get the majority of his base) it would be more than the total US cases to date.

Bungles: The US is still doing pretty awfully - if you strip out the vaccinated and then adjust for population accordingly, the unvaccinated are still being infected and hospitalised at January rates.

Why would you strip out the vaccinated?

2021-06-04 3:48:38 PM
mjbok:

Why would you strip out the vaccinated?

Because it shows the background endemic transmission. The US has a very unusually high level of vaccine hesitancy for a developed Western country, which has every chance of borking herd immunity for those who can't have it, and launching new mutant variants.

The UK currently has 75% of the adult population with at least one jab.... and it's only open to over 30s. So the take up has been pretty spectacular.
