TDWP for kids, kids don't have bosses, so you have to bring it to them. Those lucky critters will have a boss from hell story too, when they grow up.

It's ackshually just a quick cash grab for The Mouse.

Now I wanna see the version of Prada where Anne Hathaway becomes a whacked-out puppy killer.

Are you farking kidding me?

You actually expect me to believe that a major studio is releasing an uninspired, unoriginal, derivative movie?

/where's my fainting couch?

The first 40 minutes of 'Cruella' is very much reminiscent of 'Prada', except on steroids. The two Emmas are terrific and the 60s-70s music is pervasive and great to hear.

It's not a movie for kids under 13 though.

Almost rented this last night for my daughter's sleepover.

They decided to watch Mulan cartoon, then Mulan live action back to back instead.

"Cruella" a ripoff of "101 Dalmatians"?  Can a film be a ripoff of another film that's by the same company, in the same cinematic universe, and involves some of the same characters?

It could be both of them smooshed up into one quivering mass.

Bad choice either way.  Would've been better to do the Aladdins.  Or just make it a Disney classic night and skip the live actions.

Have not seen the movie, but, the soundtrack is solid.

Wow, Slate, that's a real hot take for something blindingly obvious to anyone who watched the 30 second trailer.

Anne Hathaway and Emma Stone smooshed together and quivering? You have my attention.

'Cruella'

reportedly cost $200 million, a good chunk of it spent on a lengthy soundtrack of familiar sixties and seventies pop songs. It may take quite a while to recoup that investment.

One trope I'm tired of is:: "what if the villain was really the hero of their own story?"

It's really run it's course over the last couple thousand years but especially recently.

I was gonna guess cruella was a retelling of wicked, crossed with Devil wears Prada.

Still better than "girl is secretly (or not) a princess", or "boy is a clutzy, good-hearted goof".

John Milton did it best with Paradise Lost, and it should probably have ended there.

Grendel wasn't bad but that really was where it should have ended.

The Empire Strikes Back was a MASSIVE RIP-OFF of Star Wars.

I mean, come up with some original characters already... yeesh.

Granted, I didn't see it, but when I saw the trailer for TDWP I thought "Swimming With Sharks but fashion instead of movies."

I'm not going to watch the villain backstory of the villain who murders puppies.

The first half is straight-up a DWP rehash. I could have done with a LOT less musical cues, they became obnoxious. Dafuq was the point of that?
