(Some Guy)   New bladeless wind turbine that stands upright and vibrates with the wind currents is absolutely guaranteed to not create a maelstrom of vibrator jokes   (yaleclimateconnections.org) divider line

I know anything is a dildo if you're brave enough, but....this might be the breaking point

And this is about the 5th bladeless-turbine-looks-like-a-vibrator thread we've had.

We drove from Cedar Rapids to Des Moines last weekend for the first time since just before the covid crap.  The number of new wind generators was astonishing.  My partner just got a couple of checks she gets every year just for NOT allowing windmills on a couple of pieces of farm land she inherited.  Her a$$hole brother is all pi$$ed off because the windmill another brother built on family land makes a lot of noise.  I enjoy his misery as he is further to the right than the average trumper.  My gal sold the one windmill she had to another brother because she didn't want to saddle her kids with the problem of dismantling the thing when it becomes obsolete.  She has a lot of brothers.  Of the 7 3 are pretty decent, 3 are of the spectrum of "lets have a theocracy" and one is famous for breading sons who are the most avid gun lobbyists in the world.

"Instead of relying on rotating blades, the cylindrical device vibrates back and forth as air moves around it."

And will never last long due to this alternating motion. Just like tidal power systems.

And just yesterday, I was at the wind farm in Death Stranding wondering how a bladeless wind turbine was supposed to work. I was also wondering if Hideo Kojima was so far up his own ass that he looked normal.

I'm no engineer, but isn't the mechnical strain from the vibration much worse than the rotational wear on a turbine?

This, and none of them are commercially available.

The submissions fit nicely in the new battery technology and cold fusion article crowd.
