If oil is soooo bad you would think the polar bears would want to get rid of it.

Maybe I'm stupid, but isn't that the point of a wildlife refuge?

I swear, the old saying about "only then will we realize we cannot eat money" is always relevant.

Good for Joe.

ANWR ain't for oil exploration.

It was a talking point for GQP during the election.  Fossil fuels are on the way out, and red states are clinging to their dying industries instead of embracing renewables.  Alaska is particularly fond of oil thanks to the socialist profit sharing mandated by the state government.  The wealthiest region of the US is actually near the north pole in Alaska, not NYC or silicon valley, where the oil companies have a base of operations.

Democratic talking points:
• protect this irreplaceable ecosystem
• facilitate new economic opportunities based on preserving America's pristine public lands
•standing up for human rights and identity

That was an easy win.
Trump tried to sell leases but nobody wanted them.

It takes years and a shiatload of money (doubly so in a place like ANWR) to setup oil drilling so unless oil gets really expensive continuously over 10 years it is not worth it. Particularly since fracking is way more efficient and effective.

Alaskans are hooked on their yearly payments from the Alaska Permanent Fund aka the Alaska Substance Abuse Fund.

Last Wednesday, Joe's Interior department was defending the drilling project in court. I suspect Sen. Sullivan (R-AK) voting against the 1/6 commission took this drilling project off the table. Notably, Sen. Murkowski voted for the commission and was a loud supporter of it. Let's see if her tune changes.

Seems like Biden can't win. The article starts off singing his praises, then jumps to bashing him because his Justice Department didn't shut down a project that seems to have been initiated through an entirely legal manner.

I can't believe Joe let Epstein off so easy! What a weak President!

Biden's White House keeps trying to make it sounds like he's being reasonable but it's only after he's been publicly criticized into doing the right thing. And, even then, sometimes he still doesn't do the right thing (as when he lessened the stimulus cut offs to gain absolutely no Republican support in the reconciliation bill).

It's exhausting keeping an eye on a toddler who just wants to be a lazy corporate Republican.

I wish it wasn't true, but you adamantly denying our two party system doesn't change anything. If you decide to go your own road, just be willing to accept the consequences (ie. institutionalized white supremacy).
