But there is no problem with the filibuster, right?

2021-05-28 12:47:42 PM
And now Democrats go forward on their own, pointing out that they tried to work with Republicans, and they refused...go for blood now.

2021-05-28 12:47:49 PM
These chowderheads actually believe that the leopards won't eat their faces.

It's amazing.

2021-05-28 12:47:57 PM
Joe Manchin still searching for 6 more "decent" Republicans.

2021-05-28 12:47:59 PM
Failed to break the filibuster?

It's been going on for three whole hours, I just can't take it anymore, where's my ice cream?

2021-05-28 12:48:03 PM
we haven't investigated ourselves and we've found we haven't done anything wrong.

2021-05-28 12:48:24 PM
Remember, the filibuster is very sacred for some reason.

2021-05-28 12:48:28 PM
Garland needs to appoint a special prosecutor immediately

2021-05-28 12:48:44 PM
We gave Republicans a final chance to have a seat at the table, a seat they would've most likely used to abuse, gaslight, and obstruct to no end. They made their choice.

Carry on, Democrats.

2021-05-28 12:48:45 PM
If this isn't enough to end the filibuster, what is?

2021-05-28 12:49:09 PM
So a House Select Committee it is, then.

Very well.

Enjoy being rogered every day in the media, GOP goons.

nyseattitude: Garland needs to appoint a special prosecutor immediately

I guess that means Democrats can launch 30+ investigations into Capitolghazi.

2021-05-28 12:49:25 PM
The Party of Watergate, Irangate, Covid denial, Crash of 29, Crash of 08, Teapot Dome, etc, doesn't want their insurrection investigated?

Weird

2021-05-28 12:49:25 PM
Fire up the House Insurrection Select Committee, the only Republicans who qualify for a seat are the ones who voted for the Commission.

So, they are willing to spend millions on ridiculous audits in some pathetic attempt to show there was electoral fraud, but an investigation into an obvious attempt to overthrow democracy, that the whole world watched as it unfolded, "meh, no big deal, time to move on."  farkers, every single one of them.

Only when Democrats are in power. Next time Republicans are in charge, it's toast.

and manchin will vote to kill it.

I said before that I thought I could count to maybe 5 Republicans for cloture.

Not surprised.

Manchin was expressing his annoyance with the republicans over this commission so maybe he'll finally clue in.

probably not. but hopefully.

Outshined_One: Who broke ranks and who abstained?

I didn't see the full list, but:

"six Republican senators who voted to advance the commission proposal were Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, Mitt Romney of Utah and Rob Portman of Ohio."

It's a gate not a ghazi. Ghazis are for imaginary things. Gates are for real things.

It's almost as if they are trying to destroy democracy.

When i hear "nothing going to happen", it usually translates to "they didn't to exactly what i wanted, they way i wanted, which for me is the same as nothing."

Golf claps all around for manchin and scinema. They really showed us that bipartisanship works and that if you just approach terrorists in a reasoned, well thought out manner, they will see the light of the logic and work with you.

Wait. Reverse that. The exact opposite is what I meant.

2021-05-28 12:52:57 PM
What I hate about all of this is that it is all based on an implied filibuster.  There isn't an actual filibuster going on, probably because GQP politicians lack the attention span necessary to stand up and talk for 12 hours.  And even then, they eventually stop talking and everybody resumes voting on the bill.  In the old days, a filibuster ended eventually.  This modern "filibuster" is just a supermajority with a fancy name.

Scroll down to choice 3 in this article - I think this would be the best solution to get to the bottom of what happened:

Or 4, if Sinema and Murray had been bothered to actually vote.

A part of me wants to see John Fetterman elected senator and just go farking Wrestlemania on this gutless punks on his first day. The other parts of me too, but whatever.

One has to wonder how much McTurtle paid her to do so.

Okay so we can expect another violent overthrow attempt soonish, then?

LOL no. The only blood the Democrats ever get is from shooting their own foot.

Until an independent investigation is created, that initial assessment is completely correct.

Nothing's gonna happen.  But I pray to Christ that I end up wrong.

Outshined_One: Who broke ranks and who abstained?

That's what I want to know. Last I knew there were 100 members in the US Senate, and 54 + 35 =/= 100

So by my math we have at least 11 cowards in the US Senate.

/Ok, probably more than that, but at least 11 for this particular vote

Was she busy coloring in her Lisa Frank notebook?
