I got paywalled, so I will assume the article is about an anonymous group of black women that created a new sound out of R&B only to have it stolen from white men who made billions out if marketing the music and bastardizing the sound of the genre so much that the old boy may be barely breathing, but thanks to the brilliance of these women, the heart of rock and roll is still beating.

Anyone who listens to music of any type or genre is listening to something someone ripped off from someone else.

Not me though. I'm one of the good ones. If it's not the sound of two rocks being smashed together, I'm not interested. It's honest music in its purest form.

I don't know that I'd give her with sole credit for invention of R'n'R, which TFA wanted to do, if it's the one I think it is. There were a number of people moving the blues in that direction, but she has been vastly underrated and overlooked as an early electric guitar virtuoso for a long time.

No one "invented" rock and roll.  It evolved from blues, gospel and boogie woogie through the collective efforts of several artists.  Black women like Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Big Mama Thorton and Bessie Smith among others made significant contributions to that development and they've come to be recognized as very important to early rock and roll music over the last couple of decades so articles like this are sort of superfluous.

Excuse me, but it's not Rock and Roll unless the words "Rock and Roll" are in the song title, the one exception being Starship's "We Built This City", as they're prominently featured in the lyrics.

Maybe its time to realize that the name attached to the start of something doesnt mean a single farking thing in any possible circumstance, and obsessing over it drags us backwards as a species

I stopped reading at "toxic white supremacist misogynoir" (is "misogynoir" actually a word?), like it was the Grand Kleagle of the Womanhater, Alabama chapter of the KKK working behind the scenes to suppress her music and preventing her from reaching a wider audience.

Besides, she was "rock adjacent".

I've been doing some pentatonic noodling (aka improvising) over a G minor blues backing track for the last half hour so I'm getting a kick out this reply.

The video in the Boobies (The Fark Filter) was filmed as part of a R & B tour of the UK. A tour that was a must see for the young Jimmy Page and Mick Jagger. They were said to be in the audience.

For guitar nerds. Her guitar was unique. It was even recently reissued. Below is a link to details and a pic of a little homage to the Sister on SNL when Lizzo performed
