Picture a wealthy suburb. Wealthier than that.

Picture the kind of neighborhood that's got a monthly glossy "lifestyle" magazine named after their zip code.

They only need one Ring camera to catch the perp, and then he's going to get sued. A lot.

With the growing prevalence of Ring and similar products, hopefully someone caught footage of the A-Hole. As much as I dislike the product, it does help in cases like this.

As someone familiar with the district, i can't say I'm too surprised. However, don't fark with people that are willing to spend 20k+ on rosebushes. If there are multiple victims that affluent, I'd expect that hunt is going to be taken seriously.

If you're looking for a similar product that stores footage locally, Eufy makes some decent options.

We've got one of those glossies.

It's a poorly disguised advertising circular that mostly features kids sports teams and cosmetic dentistry two-page "special features".  It's marketing bullshiat.

DoctorCal: Roundup is farking nasty.

Roundup, compared to its former glorious version sucks. It should be called "liquid weed feed."  Yes it works great on desirable plants, but it doesn't do squat on weeds. I have some smilax briar intertwined amongst some desirables, and roundup just causes vigorous growth. I have winter rye growing in a sidewalk that roundup can't do a thing about. It's a brand new bottle it just sucks. Back in the day (early eighties) you'd strap a cylinder of the stuff to your back and just dab a tiny bit of it on a plant and it would kill every time. I'm talking Johnson grass being killed by a dab.

You know you farked up when instead of creating a GoFundMe to repair the damage the victims create a GoFundMe to put a bounty on your head.

"The landscapers are estimating it'll be somewhere between $20,000 and $30,000 to replace them," the neighbor said.

It sounds like time to hire new landscapers. Rose bushes cost about $10 each and two guys can easily plant 50 of them in one day.

Well, could be that they have to replace all the soil too. Might be a bigger job than just sticking in some bushes and waiting for them to grow.

It's not so much that roundup is different; it's that it acts just like a antibiotic; and everything it missed became the new healthy population.

Well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger (where do you think they got the idea for "Roundup-Ready" seeds?) and it's going to be a huge problem in the food supply chain.

Also depends on the roses, too.   I have one bush that I spent a shiat ton of money on, but then I have grown a lot of cuttings from it, so I guess it evens out.

But you are right, the soil is most likely poisoned, too.

Pruning roses is my happy place.  Even when I had a gardener; I insist on doing that part myself.  That said; I was almost moved to violence when the deer ate my roses... I can't imagine how I'd react if someone poised my pretties.

Difficulty -- the affluent victims approve of a Black candidate for public office, or at least don't hate that candidate enough to poison his supporters' $20k rosebushes.

Difficultier -- Texas.

I don't have high hopes that the terrorists will be punished in any substantial way.

I live in a redwood forest; I have my choice of ivy, sequoia, roses, and ferns... the soil is too acidic and shaded for much else so there's not much else to do. (Honestly, there's probably about 40 wild roses, and about 20 that I've put in)

Yeah..the deer.   However, seeing one with a rose in it's mouth, munching away, looking at you with those big brown eyes...I wasn't even mad.   Mostly amazed that there was a deer in the middle of town (I have since heard that it and a few of it's herd live in a big wooded gully right above the waterfront about six blocks from us.  But that day we pulled into our driveway and saw a freaking deer in our yard was amazing.) It also seemed to have eaten a few low hanging apples.  Never saw it in our neighborhood again, though.  I might get a bit more miffed if it was a regular thing.   Used to have deer fences when we lived outside of town.

Except, if they did use chemicals, the entire area would have to be dug up and refilled with new dirt, plus bushes, etc.  still, $30k sounds awfully high.

You where I live a decent rose bush will cost you $10, a really nice well-established one in a 5 gallon pot is about 30.
$30x47≠ $30,000
