Been there and done that... and done that... and done that.

The teenagers next door were good kids. As a part time job, they were ... Ultraman / Kamen rider costumed fighters at store openings (Grabthars hammer) and amusement parks. They were really good. They had great costumes, were in great shape, and had all the stories and choreography and gimmicks. There is a museum nearby with all of the Rider teams going back many decades. I think all the ultraman versions are there too, with photos and action figures.

People who love this stuff really love it. My kids sure did. I probably still have some broken action figures and old VHS tapes.

I think my favorite episode was a monster called EPHEMERA... it had some gimmick like extremely rapid growth and destructive capabilities, but a very short lifespan, and it all ends sadly as Ultraman waxes poetic on the ephemeral nature we all share. I shed a daddy tear for EPHEMERA... NOT!

my grandfather took me to see that when I was little (sorry pap) and I loved it.  Never rewatch something as an adult that you loved as a child.  Good lord that was terrible.

I found a website with the Ultraman shows from the 70s the other day.  It was my absolute favorite show when I was a kid.

I couldn't make it past 2 episodes.

I vaguely remember seeing ULTRAMAN when I was a kid in Detroit in the 70s.  Definitely remember JOHNNY SOKKO AND HIS FLYING ROBOT.

I have recently started watching the various ULTRAMAN series (new character each series, but same basic format).  I have actually been enjoying the ULTRA series as an adult.  Sure, there are the obviously kiddie episodes, but there are many that get very involved, with some very creative scenarios, or are making a statement about some human condition.

Unfortunately JOHNNY SOKKO didn't age with me.  Very kiddie-oriented.

Anyone else play the videogame on SNES? It was so terrible I think we paid $3 of 1993 money in a Blockbuster bargain bin.
