A captain of industry who loses dough "accidentally" will sue ... and likely get rewarded by the courts.

A lottery winner who loses dough in a legitimate accident can go fark right on off.

Should've use a carwash instead. Or a chicken restaurant.

Most of the unclaimed monies the states get happen like this: They announce where the winning ticket was sold, and people other places don't bother checking their tickets that were off by 1 number and won the second prize.

What messes up your life worse - winning the lottery, or knowing you won it but being unable to claim the money?

I worked with a guy who bought lottery tickets every week with the rest of us. We have to go to a neighboring state to get tickets. So we would take turns going to get them. One day another coworker casually mentioned he would settle for even winning the match 4 plus Pb which I think was 50k. And this guy said "what? how do you buy those tickets?" He had been buying tickets weekly with us for almost 9 years. And like you said when they announced the winner or lack thereof he never bothered checking his and tossed them. He was visibly upset at the thought of the 10 lines a week for 9 years he had not even looked at when he heard he didnt win the big drawing.

You don't need to win the lottery because I've got something better. Elon, Jeff, Warren, and Bill just happen to be really good friends of mine. The other day I showed them a plan where they could reduce their tax liability by billions of dollars a year. How? All you have to do is send me any amount of money, and then I get money from them and double your original investment and send it right back to you. I accept cash, bitcoin, and Walmart gift cards. The more you send, the more you will make!

I can't believe what a bunch of nerds we are. We're looking up money laundering in a dictionary.

That would never happen to me. I put tickets here next to the computer when I get home to check the morning after the draw date. Mother broke me of leaving items in pockets when I was young. Any monies were deemed "tips for the laundry lady"  and claimed to have already been spent on groceries. A big deal for a kid with a 50 cents a week allowance or with a paper route at I think it was $3.65 a week. Other items were hidden in the basement somewhere--but never quite between the laundry chute and the washer/dryer, while she'd plead ignorance of how they got over there.

I have been pretty lucky, I hit $1800 when I was 18 years old.  Sadly the last number was off by 1 digit or it would have been millions

A few years ago I hit 10k, 6k after taxes.

I dont play often so lifetime I'm way ahead.  Always check your ticket, playing $10 at a time you usually get $2 back.

I only play for the day dreaming when life is crappy

Developed procedure for handling items of value..  eliminates most 'shait happens' moments... neighbors tend to bring me boxes of valuables when they go out of town :  know they will be here when they get back.

I play regularly.. mostly stuff with lower odds...  end up with 60-70 bucks every couple of weeks..  side work covers the cost.
