Looks extremely similar to the recent reboot they made in...2002? Jesus that was like 20 years ago. Anyway, I thought that show was actually pretty good.

Good-looking screenshots. And an impressive cast: Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, ...

I just hope they do the whole Keldor-thing. And maybe Kronis.

From what Ive heard it is supposed to pick up where the 2002 series left off, so just after the Snakemen but before the return of Hordak.

The article says it's a continuation of the 80's series, though there are definitely some elements from 2002 version in some of the designs.

And still no continuation or live-action movie version of the old Dungeons & Dragons show.

And yes, I know about the European car ad. It's cool.

Every time they make a D&D movie, I think they might figure out that just continuing or rebooting the cartoon's story and characters would be a winner, and every time they drop the ball for some bad sword-and-sandals tale that is of little interest.

/i got turned onto the second series after watching this sequence
when Skeletor lost his favorite blade to the lava.
//he uttered the magic word "return" so the blade could come back but
only a melted hilt flew to his hand, as he was distracted pondering his loss with the
look on his skull emoting "i loved that sword", He Man sucker punched the ever living shiat out of him.

He-Man was my first big nerdy thing with watching the show constantly and hoarding all the figures and playsets. Think I was 4-6 or thereabouts. Never got too into the later reboots or comics, but most people only remember the series in the 80s and maybe the live action movie. Would be funny if it took off again, now that CGI can fill in a lot more of the craziness.

I believe the recent She-Ra was a stand-alone thing.  The original 80's She-Ra cartoon would technically be related to this new show, as it spun off from the original series.

We are actually farther from the 2002 reboot than that one was from the original. And now I feel old. Especially because I grew up on the original and loved it as a kid.

I mean, the connection of the two original shows was a nonsensical pile of literal alternate-universe horseshiat involving split timelines and parallel villain evolution that made so little sense that it was retconned like three times in the tie-in movie itself, and none of the later writers understood what the fark was even going on so they eventually just all kinda threw up their hands and were just like "fark it, She-Ra and He-Man visit each other for Christmas dinner for no reason and we're not explaining how, there's a portal or some shiat, farking deal with it".

Like... if the reference is to the '80s cartoons they're not setting the bar high on how much sense a tie-in to whatever the fark they want has to make.  They could have a crossover with The Blacklist or NCIS, including live-action inserts or James Spader as a Southpark-style paper doll, and it'd still make more farking sense than the '80s She-Ra / He-Man connection.  The only danger of them crossing over with new She-Ra instead is that new She-Ra is, like... actually well-written so the Kevin Smith nonsense would look bad by comparison.

It did eventually, but I'm not sure how solid my grasp of a week as a concept was much back then. And I may have gotten a hand-me-down toy now that I think about it since I was the neglected middle child, a fact I bring up now to garnish fake sympathy from strangers online.

kryptoknightmare: pretty good

It was beautiful and well-structured. The problem was that in terms of depth of plot, character development, and violence (it is sword-and-planet after all), the 2002 series couldn't seem to decide what age its audience was. It looked amazing but no individual episode ever stood out to me.

"GIVE ME THE ROD!!!" may have been the most unintentionally hilarious line my friends and I have ever heard.  The movie itself sucked bishop in hell though, and the only entertainment we found was certainly not intended by the cast and crew.

I was just a tad too old when the original series came out (10 or 11) and yet I was drawn to the concept and design of the universe.  When I found out many years later that it was intended to be a Conan series, and then reworked at the last minute, might explain the subconscious appeal.
