Gee, you mean the fascists running concentrations camps *lied* about the health of their victims? Well knock me over with a feather!

Yeah, I'mma go with abolish ICE. A cancerous, malignant evil, created by another malignant evil that should've been abolished 10+ years ago (the "patriot" act).

Has there been anything created by a Republican administration that shouldn't be abolished since Nixon created the EPA?

So, the difference between how ICE treats detainees and how guards treat prisoners in a concentration camp is what exactly?

Why are members of ICE not being dragged before a Congressional inquiry about crimes against humanity?

The joke here is that the ICE detainee camps absolutely meet the historical idea of a concentration camp, sans the mass executions, and that historically other American victims of concentration camps - the Japanese and Native Americans - may have even been treated better because they actually received beds and were kept with their families.

Self-described Independent / Libertarian / small government victims are actually big corporate christian-infused government authoritarians and have a hold over tens of millions of voters, and their opposition is currently in power but too tolerant.

Unless and until we get internment camps for Republicans, we'll stay on the path to 1942.  We're in the 1930's right now and it has to stop.

Ms. Hushpuppy: Why are members of ICE not being dragged before a Congressional inquiry about crimes against humanity?

There is no "crimes against humanity" statute in US law, and the US only recognizes the international court of the Hague's authority when it comes to non-American citizens and entities. We explicitly passed a law during the Iraq war that stated the US would literally go to a shooting war to protect people accused of war crimes during US conflicts against international prosecution.

No US service member or employee/contractor of the US Government has ever served serious time for any kind of war crime since the Vietnam war, and none have ever been prosecuted at the Hague.

2021-05-13 6:38:02 AM
Fun fact: there has also not been a case since the WWII precedent of command responsibility of a US Soldier or law enforcement entity refusing an unlawful order and not being sanctioned, dismissed, or prosecuted for it.

In March 2020, the ACLU of Southern California sued the Department of Homeland Security to get people vulnerable to COVID-19 out of Adelanto, an immigration detention center east of Los Angeles. Among them was Martin Vargas Arellano, a 54-year-old Mexican citizen who suffered from diabetes, high blood pressure, and hepatitis C. A federal judge quickly ordered Vargas released, but put the order on hold when a plan for Vargas to go move to a Los Angeles community center fell through. In December, Vargas, still detained, tested positive for COVID-19 before becoming severely ill.
On March 15, the ACLU learned via a weekly update in a different lawsuit that Vargas had been released 10 days earlier. ICE hadn't told Margaret Hellerstein, Vargas' attorney at the LA-based Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project, who had no idea where her client was. On March 16, she filed a missing persons report, the San Bernardino Sun reported. A law enforcement official investigating her report told Hellerstein that Vargas' last known address was a Southern California hospital. She soon learned that Vargas had been dead for more than a week. He'd had a stroke on March 3, been released by ICE two days later, then died three days after that.
By releasing Vargas just before he died, ICE skirted its legal obligation to report when someone dies in its custody. To this day, ICE's webpage states lists no deaths among the 270 detainees it says have tested positive at Adelanto

He had a stroke and then, what, lay there for TWO DAYS before they "released" him??

F*ck..

ICE and everyone employed by them, EVERY ONE, are a bunch of twisted monsters.

After calling for a media blackout the present administration got caught with record numbers of detainees in the same facilities in the same conditions the previous administration had.

Over a month later after pretending to lowering people in custody within those conditions the same Democratic congressman leaked that this administration had just moved these people to a HHS facility next door trying to clean up border patrols numbers.

This present administration is just as guilty and by trying to hide the people twice ,just as dishonest.

My mobile is slow so I can't look for exact times here but this episode also has the Homeland Security chief saying he isn't interested in making Trump officials accountable.

When the Army fought the Nazis and found the camps ,they liberated them, helped the sick and made the Nazis accountable for their actions.

There is none of that in the Biden administration.

shiat people do shiat things.

For example, the project I'm closing in on wrapping up now has half a dozen corporate IT executives battling over who gets credit for it. It's big enough that at least two or three will get a promotion out of it, but not so big that all the tall ships can be raised.

So sad for them. But, maybe if I can hit my benchmarks for this week and don't have too many other emergency projects that pop up I can take this weekend off.

So would I expect ICE or any other organization to have a different mindset about human welfare? Hell no.

What a surprise.

If they lied about that, maybe they lied about other things too!

Maybe we should look in to that.

And then prosecute the people involved and make sure they see prison time, maybe we pretend that we have actually laws in this nation are aren't wholly a banana republic.
