That show is an emotionally manipulative schmaltzfest that insists upon itself.

Agreed.  I liked the first season, but ever since then, the manipulation is getting more and more blatant and ridiculous.  It's like they're writing the shows purposefully to be the "saddest show ever, and you should feel bad if you're not crying every week!  What's wrong with you, you monster!?!"

The second rate reboot of "Thirtysomething" is ending?

/ Nothing of value is lost

I'll say the same thing about this show that I said about TWD and shows like it:  it's nothing more than misery porn. It's forcing an emotional reaction to events rather than letting the events grow organically out of the story. We have enough misery in our lives, I don't want more of it.

2021-05-13 8:31:50 AM
This the show where someone is always dying, always crying, always full of deep meaningful looks.

2021-05-13 8:33:55 AM
It's still going? Get over it already, you drama queens.

Can't be. There's no ginger dude with awful plaid clothes.

I never actually watched it, but that was the impression I got from the commercials. I'm only in this thread to confirm my suspicions.

I still enjoy it.  But yeah,  I often think "there's no way this conversation/situation would play out like this!!"

/hopes there's a character on show named Gus.

Haven't seen the show, but judging from my friends' reactions and conversations, they kill off the entire cast in the most pointless and cruel way possible. Sounds cheap, cynical, and absolutely miserable.

Not sad to see it ending. I had been watching it until about a year ago, quickly tiring of the blatant emotional manipulation. Almost every farking episode went for broke trying to make you cry. Out of morbid curiosity I googled the show yesterday to see where the story was heading and was not surprised at all to see it had gotten even more ridiculous and convoluted.

I honestly thought that show had been cancelled after 6 episodes until a couple weeks ago when I heard Grace Park mention she was on it when she was a guest on the Battlestar Galacticast.  I still remember the promos for that show when it premiered because of how terrible they made it look.  Seriously, they're at a Bruins game and one guy says to his other male friends "I don't think any of you even know what color my eyes are."  The response?  "Your eyes are blue, and they're beautiful."  Who talks like this?!

My wife and I watched the first couple episodes because we heard the hype. Afterwards she looked at me and said, "We have enough difficult things going on in our lives. We don't need any more of this crap." Same applies to Million Little Things.

I watch it because the wife likes it, but even she's at the point where she's happy it's ending. So tired of every scene trying to bring the audience to tears for no reason than to make people cry.

I'm hoping it ends with a piano crate casket winch mishap, taking everyone out in one fell swoop. Literally.

I gave up a few episodes in when the old guy was revealed not only to be a drug addict, but also bisexual and dying of cancer. It immediately gave me this vibe:

I'm pretty sure the producers said a while back that their expectations all along were somewhere around a six year run.

Couldn't keep up with it. It's a show where the characters deal with new tragedies on a daily basis that any one of which would push a real person to put a gun in their mouth. It's emotional torture porn.

Don't get me started on Handmaid's Tale, it has become a sick and twisted torture/rape-porn grind.
