They keep going full Goldfinger.

'No, Mr. American citizen, I expect you to die!'

This guy assaulted a reporter for asking a campaign related question. He should be in farking jail. Not as in, "I don't like that guy and they should LOCK EM UP," but literally "this guy did stuff in front of an assembled group of journalists that should get him put in jail."

I realize this has all long since been normalized but holy shiat, you stop for a moment sometimes and remember how goddamn crazy the Republican Party has gotten. I was used to the evil long ago but the sheer jowl-shaking mayhem still takes me aback sometimes.

Normally you learn how to handle situations like this so next time you do better.

Collectively we didn't learn a thing.  And there will be a next time.

I meant the pandemic but..uhm..yeah.

I actually believe certain states are eventually going to have to restrict travel from people who have recently visited certain other states.

Not for COVID but the next one.

Also I absolutely agree with one of the comments.

If people are immune from being sued over COVID... well, what's gonna happen? It's not gonna be good.

This was like a week or two ago.  The new stupid BS is making it so Missoula can't have a 2 cent per gallon gas tax, because who needs to fund paving, plowing, and repairing bridges?

...In a few months once a vaccine-resistant variant starts circulating. But at least you'll be able to have a last meal in a restaurant.

Red states have been starving their Blue urban areas for awhile, now.

It's supposed to keep a lid on all the pesky progressive behavior.

Typical of the GOP: "if people never taste chocolate, they won't ever ask for it".

And fewer people than live in my suburb and the one next to us were affected.

The only news from Montana I care to hear is that their Statehood had been removed.

Exactly -- they bawl and complain about "states rights!" to the feds, while simultaneously doing the same thing to their own cities.

So when Republicans officially destroy the country... who gets first dibs on their livers?

Probably like rum ham.

This started in the 90s with the anti-Hillarycare campaign. After of few decades of tying themselves into worse and worse knots the Republicans are now officially anti-healthcare.

There are lots of other examples of legislation designed to hinder healthcare workers from doing their jobs around the country. They come in various guises, including hating women, hating trans people, hating the federal government, and sometimes just for no clear reason except hating healthcare or hating humans. This is about hating cities mostly I guess.

Okay, soo Covid is bad, but let's also recognize that it's not a nightmare. Now imagine what a new highly contagious virus with a 25% mortality rate could do with republicans gutting any and all abilities for anyone to make any effort to slow the spread.

The next pandemic will really stack the body count up and make Covid look like a bad rash at this point.

so people who proclaim on a regular basis that government shouldn't be telling us what to do is telling people what to do?

You won't. Given a couple more years of this nonsense no one is gonna have any idea how to find out what happened anyway. Keep this shiat up long enough and with enough intensity and we will be fighting wars over the root cause of the previous war.

Pay attention, future: IT WAS TRUMP

Heading to Montana in a month, not getting a kick.
Gonna wear my mask anywhere there's people.

Get a mask that has MAGA in big red letters on it.  They'll be too conflicted to give you shiat.

Further down this slippery slope: deliberately infecting everyone with the virus to achieve "herd immunity." Doesn't work for cows either. If you die, that's natural selection, but we still don't believe in evolution.

Ah, that's an idea. Better yet, I need to find a mask that insults the MAGAts without them realizing it.

His first act as Governor was to put the arresting officer in charge of the Montana Department Of Corrections.  Gianforte was only charged with a misdemeanor even though the assault clearly rose to a felony standard.

The natural antibody response to a SARS-CoV-2 infection features a nucleocapsid immunodominant.  The nucleocapsid is on the inside is the virus, ergo the nucleocapsid antibodies are neither neutralizing or sterilizing.

Why nucleocapsid rather than spike/RBD?  Who knows.  Some say it's a mistake, but I think the nucleocapsid probably plays an integral role of severe form coagulopathy, and is thus rated as the greater threat.

Whatever the reason, there's no way to achieve herd immunity with a nucleocapsid immunodominant because the nucleocapsid is on the inside of the virus.  The Herd Immunity debate is dead.  It will not happen without without compulsory vaccination campaign featuring proline stabilized vaccines targeting the SARS-CoV-2 receptor binding domain.

My business's mask mandate isn't a health thing, it's a dress code thing. If you can require a tie to go ingot a restaurant, I can require a mask to come into my store.

The sad thing is that we value a dress code above people's health.

With all the organ damage that Covid leaves behind, I wouldn't be surprised if, when all was said and done, we had close to a 25% mortality rate. Sure, only 2% now, but 5-10 years down the road, the number of heart attacks and death from other organ failure is going to skyrocket.
