And today Ontario announced they're no longer using AstraZeneca. Which leaves me a little bit in the lurch...

Hopefully they'll be smart enough to use the doses left over for 2nd doses, and let the people who got it already have faster than the original 4 month wait.

But that probably won't happen, as Ontario's response is basically "as incompetent as can be in every way imaginable"

Yeah, they'll find a way to screw it up. They'll pay WMS $100 million to dump the 50k doses they're sitting on into the Bow River, then decide mixing vaccine types is no go, and finally somehow blame the teachers union.

There is a lot of shiatty Twittering happening. And it sucks. And I'm surprised they haven't blamed CUPE or OSSTF. :P

I wish the gov't gave us specific data so we wouldn't sit around guessing. For example, a couple weeks ago the USA sent us a few hundred thousand AZ doses...from the factory defect pile they refused to use. Remember that factory production problem? Well, we coupld specualte all night about that. Does it turn out those vials are messed up after all?? Actually, we in the public don't have a clue, yet. 99.999% chance that is not the issue. But we all get to stress over it.

Oh and while I'm complaining...

I'm signed up for Moderna. But does this mean thousands of people who were in line for AZ are going to get in line for Moderna ahead of me? Ughh here comes another summer without immunity for Bennie.

My friend has a cabin on Lake Matinenda north of Blind River. He usually drives up from Indiana 3-5 times a year but that obviously hasn't happened since the fall of 2019 when he winterized the cabin. I wanted to go with him this year to help with the overdue maintenance on the place. My disappointment at not being able to get up there is insignificant compared to what the Ontarians are enduring. Good luck getting through this mess. I look forward to eventually dumping a bunch of money into the local economy there whenever I get a chance.

The one thing that's gone right is vaccinating the First Nations communities up north.  Getting a Conservative government to 1) follow through on doing it instead of just talking about it, and 2) not completely befugger it is nothing short of miraculous.  I suspect it's because Dougie foisted it off on a crony as usual, but said crony unexpectedly turned out to be competent (dude who runs a medical airlift company, so it's right in his wheelhouse).

I'm OK waiting a little longer if it mean Grassy Narrows gets the long end of the stick for once.  On the other hand, I'm pissed off at waiting for farking ever because they're doing all the Tory ridings down around the GTA at the expense of everything north of Barrie.

I'm about #1700 on the waitlist for A-Z, and of course that's not happening anymore.  Thursday the eligibility for my age band opens, but I'll believe that when I see it.  I still figure I'll age into the 55+ category before I get a shot.

/I whinge, but the rest of the world is farked so much worse than Ontario is

I'm one of the last Ontarians to get the astra myself.  I'm really glad they decided to push this astra one so hard, then turn around and remove it as an option without exploring the ramifications of having mixed vaccines in a person for all of us that still need a second shot.

What a shiat show.

/still glad I got my first astra couple days ago

At least it isn't just the US government that doesn't have a clue. It's governments in general

These clowns can barely run a hot dog stand, let alone a province.

BTW, the story is about Ontario, not all of Canada. Let's not even think about how things would be if Crackhead Ford was running the whole country.
