An old boss of mine actually put a lot of work into getting all of the people on his team to STOP over-working. He probably saved my life.

Sometimes overworking is fun. And sometimes necessary. There are a lot of software projects that only get accomplished by individual sheer will.. 20% of the people do 80% of the work... is actually accurate. You have a whole skad of people who show up everyday who really don't know what the f' they are doing. The biatch and whine their way about being involved...and their actual contributions are minimal. The folks who do it for love get it done, while everyone else focuses on bringing their 'whole persona' to work.

Because we don't have a choice. It's either accept the shiatty working conditions or starve to death.

I do eight hours of work each day within six hours. Why should I have to hang around for another two hours? I hate this hourly crap.

Yep. If you've finished your work satisfactorily, you should get to go home with full pay. You have fulfilled your duties.

I've probably been 30% more productive since this started but that's all household chores and yardwork that I do while I'm on meetings.

This is one of those times that I'm just going to clench my teeth and not bore you with my many CSBs about this topic. I have too many.
