I love the band.  but I did not like the trooper beer when i tried it.  Friend and I drank a couple before a concert to celebrate the occasion, but it (to me at least) was too heavy of a taste on the ol' palette.

I always figured that this would be the most popular tab, once everyone realized that booze stories go here.

Really? I drink a lot of ale. Robinsons is a decent brewery and I liked Trooper. At least it's not a hop soup like a lot of beers now.

So there's hope then.

I looked it up, and apparently there is a few different versions of the trooper? I am not sure which one I had.  looking at the lineup theres a couple i would probably dig.

Debatable - I still see hop nukes left, right, and sideways everywhere stuff is sold beyond the "We got Bud and stuff" level.

English ales mostly aren't hoppy. IPAs are of course, which is a shame as I used to enjoy an IPA. Real ale isn't "craft beer", it's ale brewed as it always has been for hundreds of years. There are many, many breweries of which Robinsons is one. My preference is for Morland's Old Speckled Hen from Oxford and Harvey's Sussex ale from Lewes, near Brighton. Trooper is also decent, but like any ale has a strong flavour compared to Budweiser, Coors etc.

I lived in Germany for a year, so agree on the German beers. Particularly the dunkel Weizen.

"IPA....why does it always have to be IPA?"

There is a ridiculously good Bavarian restaurant near my friends in NH that we get a lot of imported stuff when we go to it; of course at this point it's been over a year so I've lost track of what I've had there but I've never been disappointed.

\owners are Bavarian
\\at one point they closed down to go to Oktoberfest every year

The import section of a local market in my area has been carrying US-pint cans of Iron Maiden The Trooper ale for a few years now. It's not bad as a session beer but at over $4 a can there are other superior choices, IMHO.

/a fun novelty none the less

Hop-forward beers are not really my cup of, er, tea. Saying that, this one is an absolute belter...

The Maiden beer bottles have caps with album art, that's pretty rad.
