Like it's been said, they love critical race theories. They just don't like the Capitalized one. Or they wouldn't if they could actually read Derrick Bell.

No, that's still pretty chickensh*t.

All those people might agree with it, but maybe 3 people, tops, actually wrote that piece.

Again, no one who actually put those words on the page is identifying that they wrote it.

That is chickensh*t, clownshoes sh*t from a bunch of pasty, white f*cking cowards.

I agree, great headline, but that piece is an absolute steaming pile of racist sh*t.

Thus my downvote.

And see NRO, I have the courage to declare my actions.

Intradasting -- I always thought voting was headline-specific, not whether you liked the content of TFA. Maybe that's just me, I spent a lot more years here before we had any kind of voting, so I might be in the minority.

It's Idaho.  They don't like anything that interferes with White Power theory.

2021-05-11 10:49:08 AM
"Critical race theory" has become one of those things, like "BLM" or "Antifa", where Republicans are attacking the bullshiat strawman version of it that was invented by people yelling on Fox News.  Got a sawbuck here that says none of the people who voted for this, or any of the editors of NRO who wrote this shiat, have read any actual literature in critical race theory.

Schoolkids are not being taught actual critical race theory.  It's grad-school level theory.  They aren't being assigned "CRT" source material any more than 6th graders are being assigned to read Foucault or Derrida.

Really no surprise here, the republican party rejected critical thinking a long time ago so any discussion that don't revolve around jingoistic bullshiat and hyperbolic strawmen was never going to be welcome in conservative circles.

So the NRO are champions of "cancel culture" now? what is cancel culture if not banning entire topics from being taught at school?

"Governor Brad Little of Idaho has now signed a bill into law prohibiting public schools, including public universities, from teaching that "any sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin is inherently superior or inferior" - a teaching that the bill explicitly links to "critical race theory." The bill, HB 377, also prohibits lessons arguing that "individuals, by virtue of sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin, are inherently responsible for actions committed in the past by other members of the same sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin," essentially lifting the weed of CRT pedagogy out at the root."

I don't know a whole lot about CRT, but it seems to me that it boils down to, in effect, "If whites are racist against blacks, then the only solution is for blacks to be racist against whites."  The whole idea of discrimination creating equity is bullshiat from its root.  By its very definition, discrimination is unequal. You can't create equality by being discriminatory in the opposite direction to how things are discriminatory now.  That's not how anything works.

It's darkly amusing to me that as a libby lib most of the time I don't have a clue what my conservative family members are endlessly ranting that I'm "obsessed" with because I'm on the political left.

Yeah but when you apply critical thinking to historical events (especially The War of Yankees Started It or anything about the 20th century except When Democrats Made Jim Crow), you've engaged in The Humanities; and that is forbidden magic.

Because it makes white people feel bad.

Good comparison. Also: CRT is a lot like Common Core. Conservatives have no idea what it is, but that doesn't stop them from making up or repeating lies in order to demonize it.

jst3p: So call it "Not being an asshole theory" and teach it?

When they screamed about "political correctness" in the 1990s and thinking people everywhere went "you mean 'not being an asshole?'", they failed to learn.

When they screamed about "PC culture run amok" in the 2000s and thinking people everywhere went "you mean 'not being an asshole?'", they failed to learn.

When they screamed about "it's getting so a man can't even expose himself to coworkers anymore without it being a whole THING" in the 2010s and thinking people everywhere went "you mean 'not being an asshole?'", they failed to learn.

When they STILL scream about "cancel culture" and thinking people everywhere STILL say "you mean 'not being an asshole?'", they're STILL failing to learn.

So maybe if we call CRT "not being an asshole theory" instead, they'll learn.

// hey Lucy, wanna play football?
// oh, and they were, simply, assholes in the 1980s and before - so they learned that "asshole" is the default, and thinking people everywhere had to privately wonder "could they try not being assholes?"

2021-05-11 11:05:24 AM
Conservatives don't want kids being taught actual history or actual science. I wonder what reality will be next on their hit list? Math?

I wonder why conservatives prefer that the population is uneducated and has a difficult time voting?

Idaho is literally the White Nationalist State, is anyone surprised?

2021-05-11 11:05:49 AM
Here's really everything that needs to be taught:

Parts of the country abjected racial minorities so badly and for so long that it caused a bunch of internal problems that came back to bite them in the ass.  This backlash became so united that now, those same parts of the country look to abject everyone everywhere who isn't above an unspecified financial level.  Racism continues to exist but it's mostly used to fuel the infighting of the people below the unspecified financial level so that the rest of the country continues to financially support the folks above the unspecified financial level.  However, the people who are above the unspecified financial level have unleashed a massive fascist propaganda campaign to maintain the infighting of the people below the unspecified financial level.

Well, I meant for the benefit of the kids in the schools that might not turn out to be assholes. It is important to remember that even in deep red states some of the people can learn.

Can we please stop calling it CRT? It's history. It's shiat that happened. Conservatives started calling it CRT and for some farked reason the media is just running with it like "cancel culture" and "satanic abuse".
