Fulham's remaining games: Southampton, MU, Newcastle

Burnley's remaining: Leeds, Pool, Blades

Fulham might win two out of that and Burnley lose two, but staying up is not happening

Recreativo Huelva fell from the third tier straight to the fifth, thanks to the Spanish league restructuring. They're the oldest team in Spain (founded in 1889 by Scottish workers in the then-mining town) and had never played below the third level.

They were last in La Liga in the late 2000s.

These "modern" badges just keep getting worse. Never mind up and changing a team's name just for kicks.

Personally, I like European-style names for clubs. But if a club already had an American-style name and it wasn't a bad one, why the hell change it? It's not like Kansas City, who had the terrible name of "Wizards".

If Ligue 1 could keep a hold on talent, they'd be a force. A lot of top players came from or burst onto the scene from there.

Alas, only Qatar FC does.

I've never set foot in Ohio and I think it's a terrible decision.  Columbus, SC?  Really?  I couldn't believe they did that.  What an unforced error.  And the whole "imitate the UK so people we take us seriously" thing is so tedious.  And it's never ever going to work.

Yeah, the Crew was one of the better nicknames, and honestly, it sounds better than Columbus SC does.

Of course my MLS team of choice has had a Euro style name since the beginning. Good old DC United.... Second best United in all of global soccer.

The best United are, of course about to play two legs against Blackpool.

Their original name was the Kansas City Wiz.
I actually have their original jersey.

Europe is only good at geography because their continent is divided is into fifty countries who speak 24 official languages and with the exception of the last fifty years, been trying to exterminate each other for the entirety of human history.

Americans, on the other hand, can drive from Point Barrow, Alaska, to Punta Arenas, Chile, pass through twelve countries speaking two languages (yeah, I know, Quechua, but I don't have to know it).

Am I too late to do stupid jokes about European-style names for American clubs? Because I don't have any.

Although I do think that if Austin, TX has a team they should be the Austin Powers. And Australia's Brisbane Roar should by all rights be Sporting Brisbane.

Montreal's a hell of a detour on the way to Patagonia, but sure.  French there, Dutch in Suriname, Portuguese in Brazil.  So five languages if you ignore my original hypothetical and decide to zigzag for some reason.

FWIW, the Darien Gap seems to be settling down, and there have been people who have driven it.  But I sure as hell wouldn't.
