Could it have been in TFA?

Better not take my death sticks.

I don't like the vapes. After one caught fire on me and burned to the ground inside I've been leary of the things.

Good.  Nothing makes me appear as mysterious as smoking does.

Maybe 50 or 100, but not in 10 unless you want certain "chivalrous organizations" to make a farkton off of smuggling them.

You'd see the same in America, just as we did with Prohibition. Hell, we see cigarette smuggling here state to state to avoid taxes.

Just have the government ban tobacco.  Don't the Democrats hold a majority in congress, and a 51 to 50 in the senate, and isn't biden a Democrat?

Sounds like a slam dunk.  Problem solved.

You must be trolling because no one is that dumb.

The FDA ought to implement rules regulating the amount of nicotine permissible in cigarettes.  That would benefit the most amount of people, despite what some anti-smoking advocates claim.

Didn't they already do that once?  It was great for tobacco companies, as people had to buy more cigarettes so they could get the same amount of nicotine.

I wonder what the decline in tobacco usage here in the Seattle area looks like over the years.

You hardly ever see someone smoking cigarettes here. It can't always have been that way. I don't think recreational MJ caused it, as the number of tobacco smokers was already low before the laws here passed legalizing it. More likely effective anti-smoking education and high taxes did the product in up here.

Nah. Tobacco usage has dropped across the board the past 20 years or so.

I can remember seeing cigarette vending machines at IHOP when I was younger

I still see people smoking in Dallas (when I visit). I don't see anyone smoking here in Seattle. Maybe we're just green, granola nuts up here, and that's why no one smokes, but it's really really rare to see someone smoking.

What is dumb about banning tobacco?

If people won't quit of their own volition, it is the responsibility of the government to take care of the problem for its citizens.

I bet tobacco related illness affects minorities at a greater rate.  So we can have the government ban it on affirmative action grounds.

Problem solved.

I disagree.  That might have been true in the past, but now the government is here to take care of us.  It is what people want.  They want the government to give them a warm embrace and keep the safe.
