My church was one of many that went to online-only services back in April of last year.

Starting in December 2020, the church re-started an in-person service with the condition that attendees wear masks. Plus, the chairs in the worship center were rearranged to promote social distancing.

When a member was diagnosed as having Covid-19, the church went back to online-only until the entire church building was sanitized.

Unlike that Oregon church, plenty of churches refuse to risk the health of members in order to pass offering plates.

Unless several people actually die from the breakout, they will simply recover and move on with their lives and believe they were correct in their evaluation of the situation.

I honestly don't care at this point what happens to these people. If they die from their choices that's their problem. To much time spent caring and people like that not doing the sensible thing. My only advice at this point is keep getting as many people as possible vaccinated and let these fools kill themselves with their beliefs. That way at the end of the day they're gone and all the sensible people are left.

What's with the color-coding in the last pic? Is that usual or related to pandemic restrictions?

(In case it's not clear, this is a serious question asked out of curiosity, not some kind of trolling attempt.)

God is not impressed.

Well thoughts , prayers and a big fark you to these people. Hopefully the kids will see what dumbasses the adults are and grow up to be better. My brother and his family have done all sorts of modified services, online, people staying in their cars in a parking lot, field services and I think they did do some socially distanced ones inside. No cases there I am aware of but these chuckle farks defied all logic and reason and spit in sciences eye. After a year of this crap we know the basic steps to promote safety and they defy them because they have to live their lives and will be protected by god, good luck with that. It is like the joke about the woman on the flooded roof waiting for god to save her and turning down all the help from people.

I'm seeing others did similarly. A church near me did something I thought was cool: Services with the cars in the parking lot over the radio, like a drive in. And even these hayseeds were able to manage with services on line. Also encouraging people to do more visiting and checking up on each other online.

In another of the thousands of repercussions that piss me off about the last president and his inept COVID response, they had to put a lot of their charity work on hold after cases got out of hand...

My church has done outdoor worship, once a month, weather permitting, since last May.  We drew huge circles for families gather in, rigged up a microphone and speakers, and a low level transmitter for those that stayed in their cars.  Masks were required, unless you stayed in your car with the windows up.  Choir members were allowed to sing in their cars, with the windows up, kinda dumb, but they want to sing.  Communion is drive thru, pick up your bread and juice in sealed packs, drive to your spot, and join in when prompted.  We're planning to have an indoor service on May 23 for Pentecost, unless the numbers trend back up.  Out of 235 members, we lost 2 to Covid, both over 90, with previous issues.  No one else has even been diagnosed with it, as far as we can discover.  But we are definitely going to continue with our online worship and other items, like Bible studies and Sunday School.  We've had nothing but positive responses, and an increase in giving over the last year.  Even from names we've never seen, and some long absent members.

These jerks in the article really should try an outreach that actually attracts others.  Cause the stunts they're doing now are just chasing people away.

I wish our church would do this . . . they're encouraging everyone to come back but I've yet to hear from the pulpit to get your dang shot and avoid breaking the fifth commandment. We're going to stick with virtual for a while longer.

What's not to understand.  They give moar money for in person services.  Ain't no one donating for Zoom church.

If the old and the weak end up dying, well... chances are they're leaving half their money to the church.  That's a win.  If the young end up harming their long term health through vascular complications, well, all the more reason for them to show up every week, donate and pray for some faith healing.

The grift never ends, the grift never even pauses.  Every event that happens, good, ill or vile is only used to feed the grift.  Anyone who gets in the way of the grift is an enemy of god.

My muslim coworkers are baffled by the Christian church attitudes here. At the mosque, then have measured out sections for prayers, disposable paper for where the head touches the floor, cleaners, and people who enforce the rules.

They see the people who preach about love and peace, who say Islam is violent, and who do shiat like this.

I loathe religion in general and Islam in particular, but credit is due where credit is due:

It seems that most Islamic countries have reacted to the pandemic in far more intelligent and practical ways than have the predominantly Christian ones.

Churches, Temples and whatever other name you can think of.
They should all be forced to pay taxes.
Once 90% of religious buildings close because their god can't seem to pay the bills maybe then we can finally have world peace.

If you need to ignore public health precautions and basic sense in order to "feel the presence" of your god, it sounds like y'all have a pretty weak-ass relationship. Maybe break things off and find one of those deities that you can summon/commune with any ol' place. One of those nature fellas. You can just have a little potted cactus at your desk or on your coffee table. Boom, problem solved.

He used to be an almighty creator of universes.

Murray said the church, which has held in-person services throughout the pandemic, intends to continue with in-person ceremonies on Sunday.

Well, fark em then.  I hope as many as possible die, that seems to be the only way these asshats will learn anything and even then it's debatable.
