There was a screenplay written by Harlan Ellison and a novelization of it by him and Ed Bryant where near the end of the a hand is cut off in a door to hover weightlessly at the intersection for eternity.

That website displays black text on a gray background. That is really bad design. What was the question again?
Skywalker's hand? I imagine they left it on a props table and eventually some obsessive collector paid a ridiculously high price for it. Maybe it's in a landfill. Who cares?

I've no time to take a society that was capable of cloning on a massive scale, yet didn't clone Jedi, seriously.

(And, yes, I'm aware of the Cuis clones, and their eventual failure, but that was the Sith for you...)

Both in Legends and Canon there were attempts at cloning Force Sensitive individuals.  It doesn't go well.

That appears to be part of the plot of the ongoing Vader comics and The Mandalorian.

Yep. And, the thing is, it doesn't make any sense at all. They're able to grow human clones to adulthood, and we apparently know that midichlorians are just microscopic organisms, so, I mean, c'mon - they can't figure out how to culture midichlorians or clone humans capable of supporting them? Hell, they're chasing Grogu because they think that they can do exactly that, and they're doing it in Luke's timeline, before Rey shows up.

Ishkur: Why are Star Wars storylines always so farking stupid?

Because they weren't supposed to happen. Star Wars became a phenomenon that was forcibly (ha, ha) extended, and no one was supposed to take it this seriously.

The Nerds delved too greedily and too deep.

So, why isn't there any Force Yogurt? A bit of cream, some midichlorians to culture it, and... boom. Suddenly, it's asking for Ohio.

That was always a great scene, really helped establish that even his character - and he'd seen some shiat no doubt - was a little blown away by how bad shiat had apparently gotten there.  To the point that even he was farking outraged.  He was a great actor with his face, and he did an amazing, "What the actual...?!   JFC this town is unclean, purify it!" reaction.

Shouldve turned it to eleven.
And went the route of creating a reverse Vader. Everything is robot except the hand.
Then it's programmed to believe it's the real 1uk3 $kyw@1k3R

Finding Luke's hand makes no sense. The "bottomless" pit Luke falls into seems to have a lot of negative pressure. He is sucked into one of 10,000 port vents then expelled as foreign matter. Presumably to keep the air way clear. Why wouldn't this have happened to the hand? In all probability the hand was vented into the atmosphere of Bespin never to be seen again.

This suggests that Snoke, and probably the resurrected Emperor, possibly have some Skywalker DNA

I can see Snoke having some, being an experiment and all, but why would palpatine insert Luke's DNA into his own clone?

As for Rey, just let it go. Rey isn't a real Skywalker no matter what she calls herself. Let her be her own person(as far as the "granddaughter" of Palpatine can be in this universe). These stupid contrivances only make the story and movies worse.

Like ol' Sheev wouldn't be out there cutting off tons of body parts from tons of people. That hand could be anyone's. He's probably got a whole room full of hands, and a patio just for tongues. He's a nutter, he is.

Can't wait for the re-re-re-released versions with added scenes that try to shoehorn unimportant shiat into the originals to tie everything together.

Totally surprised they didn't add a scene with a dumpster diving Jar Jar catching the hand with his tongue and swallowing it whole, followed by some stupid babble

And Rey should have stayed as Johnson put her origins: just another human out of trillions whom the Force chose to manifest itself. Not a child of some dynastic Force users. When the f*ck did the Skywalkers become the only Force wielders in the galaxy?

It was the pilot for the ill-fated TV series "The Starlost."   The series ended up being so bad that Ellison made them use his pseudonym Cordwainer Bird as the writer.   They still advertised it as being based on "Harlan Ellison's award-winning screenplay."

Ben Bova satired the whole situation in his novel "The Starcrossed."    That book starts with a short history of the Starlost disaster.

They never were. But seeing how the movies specifically follow the Skywalkers rise to power and fame, it isn't strange for them to be around for the important stuff.

Anakin becoming Vader.

Luke becoming the re-establisher of the Jedi order and being a great hero of the resistance.

Leia being the princess of a planet, an important figure in the resistance who goes on to become general in the New Republic.

If they didn't show up somewhere in the battle against the First Order in their active life time it would be weird.
