TFA mentions it is in the Strong museum.

Farmville might have earned the spot (most of the other losers were near and dear to me, especially Mattel Football and Tron), but should equally get a position in the Hall of Shame in the Weak museum next door.

/saw a mattel electronics football game in a grocery store a few years ago
//what did they want? $25?
///that's probably what they went for, at least adjusted for inflation.  But a $1 CPU could handle the whole thing in the 1990s (yes, Atmel had embedded CPUs for $1.   And it needed to control about 30 LEDs, 5 buttons, and a speaker.  No more).

In 2018, the lead curators made 'The most controversial decision in Smithsonian History' -

Are 'video games' art? The answer: "If the end result is not a product, but a production, then art overrides commercialism by intent."

Only nine are in the HoF for 'Artistic Achievement':

Baldur's Gate and BGII.
A Mind Forever Voyaging by Steve Metzger.
Wasteland 2.
Panzer Dragoon Saga.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
The Last of Us.
Portal.

There used to be a Walk of Game on the second floor the Metreon shopping center in San Francisco, but all the cool stuff was replaced with a mini Target store.

Which Portal? This one

Or this one?

I think the first is more deserving yet suspect it's the much better known second that got the recognition.

Anyone can come up with their own awards and there own hall of fame. With that in mind, I think I'll introduce the highly prestigious Gordon Bennett Video Game Hall of Fame.

Thank you for coming, please be on the lookout for future awards, some of which may be duplicates as I'm not bothering to keep any records of this.

One island per console may be one of the worst design decisions ever.

stappawho: One island per console may be one of the worst design decisions ever.

That's nothing compared to how badly they farked up Tomodachi Life.  They built a game around importing the Miis of your real family and friends and building relationships among them. But they restricted romantic couplings to opposite-sex only. Then when players who are themselves gay or have people close to them who are gay saw them forced to be straight and quite sensibly complained, Nintendo said that they didn't allow same-sex couples in the game because they didn't want to make a political statement. Telling angry customers that recognising their identity was an unwanted political statement did not go over well.
