How would there even be a sequel after the main story reveal and conclusion? The story has been told.

Not all movies need sequels.

They started the pokemon world, but as it was stated in post 1, the Dec pika story is done.

I actually saw that movie and something tells me that the lead "actor" is not going to be doing many more movies.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed that flick.

Literally no movies are necessary.

I'm not sure being 'queer' actively disqualifies you from being a movie actor? Or have you been in a coma since 1955?

The problem was they couldn't get their big star, Bulbasaur Charizard, to sign given how popular he is these days.

I would suggest going a different route and make a pokemon ranger movie.

I think it's more because he sucked in that role rather than anything to do with identify.

Why would you automatically think that was what he was referring to?

The guy can't act, thats the issue......

I may have watched that movie under the influence... alternatively the movie itself was a drug-fueled fever dream.  Alternatively it is *my personal* fever dream and I'm still living it.

It was a pretty decent movie, and they did an excellent job of creating a world where you could believe that Pokemon and humans lived together. (And, geez, the look on my kid's face when he saw those Pokemon up on the big screen was worth the movie ticket price itself.) However, it was definitely self-contained (as it should have been). And yes, the person playing the main protagonist was not exactly the world's most expressive actor.

Having said that, if they want to put out side-stories of Lucy and Psyduck doing a Pokemon version of Mystery Inc. Investigations, I'm all for it.

Pikachu wasn't the lead?

Pff glad I didn't see it

This hasn't stopped new Pokemon releases in over 20 years.

You could do what Digimon does and reboot the franchise with new character, new rules and new situations every season.

I still stand by my assertion that Detective Pikachu is the best Digimon movie ever made.

Could be fun to have other movies made in that universe, but I don't see the cancelling of a direct sequel as a bad thing.

Really? You don't think they can come up with some excuse for Ryan Reynolds to be stuck as Pikachu again?

If they wanted to make a sequel they could come up with something.

The biggest question is probably can they get Ryan Reynolds. I don't know what his schedule is or desire to reprise the role or anything.

Detective Pikachu is back after hearing about an underground Pokémon fighting club where Pokémon are forced to duel to the death.  It is directed by Snyder to make it dark and gritty, will be six hours long, and we will get to see how Michael Vick transitions from animal loving football player to main villain role.

It's voice acting. He's not going to be standing around waiting for shots to be set up, or getting his makeup touched up. Probably knock the whole thing out in two or three days.

I thought his acting was ok? I don't remember it being Steven Segal levels of bad....and if someone puts something in " " then it's usually alluding to something else?
