I'm both happy and saddened by this performance by Means. Hopefully the Orioles are going on the right path unfortunately the cynic is telling me that means is going to be trade bait in the future. I hope I'm wrong.

they're currently last in the AL East, but are still doing better than most of the NL East. I'd say that's an improvement over the absolute dogshiat that everyone was predicting them to be this year (that role is being fulfilled by the Tigers).

The Mariner's starting lineup has 5 players hitting under 0.150

For real.

..and yet they're still 2nd in the Asshat Division with a better record than anyone in the NL East

I just finished watching this on rebroadcast and had no idea of the result. My first no-hitter. I remember watching Mussina take one to the 9th.

Amending my remarks from two weeks ago:

Wild coincidence: There have been 21 perfect games and 14 games that could be called semi-perfect (no hits and no walks; only runners reached via error, HBP, or dropped third strike). All three no-hitters this season AND the 7-inning unofficial gem were semi-perfect.

At least two of them better be off the 26-man roster by their next game, on Friday.

/specifically, Evan White and Taylor Trammell
//Trammell didn't even play in this one

Also bears mentioning that the only reason this wasn't a perfect game is the single dumbest rule in baseball.

In fairness, of course a game involving the Mariners can't be perfect, by definition.

You (and the rest of us Orioles fans) have every right to be cynical, However I don't think Means is going anywhere.  They've spent the last few years stripping the team to the bare minimum and trading anyone with value, and are not at the point that they are [hopefully] building to a solid team.  Means is under team control for several more years and should be their #1 or #2 starter for at least the next 4-5 years and hopefully 10+ years.

Now we need to get a couple more guys out of the minors (DL Hall, Grayson Rodriguez, Rutschman).  Rutschman is interesting since he is obviously the top prospect but Severino has been very solid behind the plate.  Do they bring him up, have him playing DH 4 games and C 2-3 games, or leave him in the minors to play C full-time this year?

The first no-hitter I've ever seen live.  Well....kinda live.  I picked it up in the 5th, "Means no hitting the Mariners through five."  Given that the O's are my second favorite team, I was in.  saw the last 12-13 outs.  dude was nasty.  the little pitch tracker things MLB network has, he was carving the plate.

and the postgame, when he said, "my dad was behind me, telling me what pitch to throw and when...."  I cried.  very moving moment.
