Am I the only one that finds fast food chains that have at least one older woman working there? They seem to keep the smartass kids in check.

I'm starting to think that maybe paying fast food workers minimum wage might be a bad idea guys...

Uh... I don't think so.  When the manager puts the food in the bag and there isn't surveillance video to show anything amiss.  They went through the Drive-thru and didn't notice a stench from the bag beforehand?   They already we're eating some of the food before anything was noticed (like the stench that sickened them)?

Nice try.  Actually not a very nice try

I eat lot of fast food.  I mean a loooooot of fast food.  In my experience, it's super rare to run into attitude regardless of who's working.  I order my food.  They put it in a bag.  I leave.  We all get on with our lives.

Canada once had a Minister of Health, who, when advised that hamburger meat had been determined to contain feces, told Canadians to just "cook the s__t out of it".

Cooking kills the germs, but not the toxins that have been left behind by the germs as they grow and reproduce.

That's the "poisoning" part of food poisoning.

Who doesn't look in the bag right after they are handed their order?
They ate fries out of the bag, how did they know where the fries were if they didn't look?
The entire story stinks.

2021-05-04 5:37:54 PM
So I'm to believe that it was all just delicious aromas of french fries, with a hint of burgers alllll the way home with the food?

No hint of any type of bad smell right up until the moment they pull the 'wrapper' out of the bag?

...THEN all of a sudden there's a stench.

Yeah, this stinks of a money grab.

They still have the wrapper.  Offer to DNA test the wrapper and the family members.  And that will be the end of it.

That and they don't trust their customers either.  Food thrown, customers assaulting employees, knives, guns, shots through the Drive-thru window, robberies...

Cameras, cameras, everywhere.  I worked in a Mc D's in college... in 1993. There were surveillance cameras all over the place in a college town with little to no crime rate other than public intoxication

I completely agree. I try not to eat it too much, but sometimes you are on the road and end up eating it for 3 straight days (which degrades my sense of mental wellbeing more than the day after taking MDMA). Despite it being a cultural trope, I can't remember ever having a negative experience with a fast food worker.

This is my surprised face.

Also, love the nickname, I've never heard anyone from Millsaps use it until just now. I had a couple friends from HS who went there in the late 90s.

Worked in my Aunty's Baskin-Robbins' in HS. She had 4 franchises, each hah an older woman manager during the day who made the cakes, special orders, etc. The manageress of the one I worked at most often (as a relative, I was expected to "float" if needed) was Mary. She knew all the regular customers by name & often had their regular orders waiting for them. I learned a lot from her.

One customer left $2,000 in his Will to be divided between Mary ($1k) & the rest of the staff working on the day he died (he liked chocolate malts). Aunty didn't take a dime, bless her. This was in 1973; in Winter so, we only had 3 working that night (there was a $1 theatre a few doors down the strip mall & we needed to be able to cover the let-out, some nights we only had 2, & a few nights I remember working alone.

The store was in Des Plained, IL. A sometimes customer was John Gacy the mass-murderer, tho' I didn't know it at the time. I was in the Navy a couple of years later & recognized his face in the news, so I know I served him. Scary. Creepy. But he never said anything to me other than his order which I don't remember, so he didn't make a big impression. Looking back, didn't do much for my ego to realize on of the most infamous killers of teen boys didn't put the make on me, a gay teen boy. What, I wasn't up to his standards?

Coincidentally, my Sister's Wife's Aunt, whom I didn't meet until years later, lived at the end of his street, looking down it from the cross street & could see his house being deconstructed during the search. She & her husband also owned a hardware store where he bought "construction" materials. She said her husband (died before I could meet him) kept throwing up after he realized what Gacy did with the materials he'd sold him. Her husband was hospitalized twice, she said.

My Mother's youngest brother was the Warden of the penitentiary where Gacy was incarcerated until he was executed.

I never got to ask Mary if she knew Fact: she retired about the time he was arrested but I don't think he came in during the day. Since teenagers go to school during the day, no kids until about 5 O'Clock.
