Way, way, way on the other side of the footballing world:  Brora Rangers of the Highland League and Kelty Hearts of the Lowland League have started the first leg of their playoff to face Brechin City for a spot in Scottish League Two next year.  This was actually a controversial match.  The Highland League never really got off the ground this season--Brora only played three matches to win its title, and most sides played no more than two all season.  The SPFL considered cancelling the promotion playoffs this year as some didn't consider Brora or Kelty legitimate champions, but they decided only last week that the playoff would go ahead.

There's also a bit of background behind this all.  Next year the Highland League is going to start promotion/relegation with three feeder leagues in the north of Scotland.  Details on that are still being hammered out, but it's basically the last major step in the 20-year movement to combine the SPFL, the Highland League, and the various "junior" leagues into one pyramid.  Previously the only way for a team to get to the SPFL was to hope that a professional side went bankrupt or (even rarer) that the SPFL decided to expand.  For decades junior clubs in the south of Scotland griped that Highland clubs had an unfair advantage in getting into the SPFL, and to be honest a lot of former Highland sides (Ross County, Elgin City, Peterhead, Inverness County and Inverness Thistle which merged to form ICT) were getting promoted ahead of bigger southern clubs.  That led directly to the formation of the Lowland League so some of the bigger "junior" clubs could get more exposure, and the eventual Highland-Lowland Playoff to face the 10th place club in League 2.  That's now seen as a bottleneck...both promoted sides have thrived in the SPFL (and Cove Rangers won League 2 in their first season) while neither of the two relegated clubs have even contended for the Lowland League title.  Non-league Scottish football is surprisingly healthy.

Meanwhile, Brechin City...well, just three years ago they were playing in the Championship alongside Dundee United.  Two relegations and two last-place finishes later they're staring at possible relegation to the Highland League.  Going from away trips to Tannadice to an away trip to Fort William...that's their potential fate.

They were calling it hail earlier. Maybe it's more like sleet, but I'm not sure.

But this video was posted earlier by one of the commentators

One of the amusing things about the playoff is how they decide where the relegated side will go.  There's not really a physical boundary between "north" and "south" Scotland, so the SPFL made one up:  the midpoint of the Tay Road Bridge.....because, um, it was as good an answer as any.  Since Brechin is north of there, to the Highland League they would go...and they would replace Fort William as the southernmost side!

Mahrez pushes City further ahead in "Oil clasico" (as some have mocked this tie).

Honestly, Leicester City made serious bank from their player sales, and from what it looks like they invested heavily in their infrastructure.

Their late chairman was a pretty judicious owner and it seems like his successor has been shrewd as well.

/And Mahrez will always be loved in Leicester for the title run

And somewhere between then and now, the Foxes opened up a 100m-pound training facility thanks to all those massive sales. It looks quite nice.

I'm going with Neymar and Stones as the most likely meltdowns on either side.
