In a YouTube video from infamous rumor-monger Overlord DVD a.k.a. Doomcock (via Bounding Into Comics), the gossip reporter claims that Gina Carano is in talks with Disney to return as Cara Dune in some fashion. "My Hollywood agents have been telling me for weeks now that Disney is in talks with Gina Carano about the possibility of returning to the role of Cara Dune in The Mandalorian and several other shows in the Favreauverse," the YouTuber claims.

Oh, well if Doomcock says it's so ...

They should put a stunt woman in her costume, shoot it from far away, and just have her die stupidly like while running with scissors.

Once again, Carano doesn't understand the minor-celebrity-to-conservative-hack pipeline. You don't try and run the pipeline when you're doing your biggest and most significant project in your career! You wait until you're only getting booked at the third-tier Comic-Cons before you start whargarbling in public. When you've got no dignity left, that's when you try for the conservative grift. It's an easy grift, but it's not as lucrative as you think.

Dark Side is not stronger. Quicker, more seductive. She was the chosen one. She was supposed to save the franchise, not destroy it!

Anyway, you're right. The usual theme is that you keep that shiat stowed until your career falters and then start using your F you money as a platform.
It seems more celebrities are falling to this. JK Rowling also didn't know how to keep quiet until she would be old enough to be excused as going a little dotty and eccentric.

I really appreciated having a strong woman with a more realistic physique for such stuff. Alas, at least she wasn't a load bearing character and can easily be disappeared with nary a ripple on the plot.

She's a terrible, just absolutely terrible actress who hasn't put in the work to become competent at her chosen craft.
I've said this before, HOLLYWOOD HAS BEEN TRYING TO MAKE GINA CARANO HAPPEN FOR.. YEARS!
She could have been the female Vin Diesel or Dwayne Johnson. Just, just try to keeñ in mind how some in that industry never get a shot. This woman got a starring vehicle right off the bat, with Douglas, Banderas, Mcgregor and Fassbender as SUPPORTING PLAYERS.

That was a decade ago.  She's kept on working, but the career trajectory doesn't quite track with that of someone of a leading man/lady.  She's very attractive and has the action chops, but completely lacks the charisma also necessary for that role.

This is a likely scenario. Gina Carano doesn't rank highly enough in the derposphere to automatically understand that it was all a grift and a scam. It's highly likely she was a higher-profile firm believer and now has been caught up in it.

No normal human being can watch that movie and think "this woman is a talented actor and/or charismatic". It is impossible. The only woman recently that has been pushed by Hollywood that may be less charismatic is Ronda Rousey.

And while not great, Sasha Banks somehow walks onto the set of The Mandalorian with seemingly no on-set acting experience and it is immediately obvious she has potential.

The film received generally positive reviews from critics.  Review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a score of 80% based on 192 reviews.

Haywire was released on January 20, 2012 with an opening weekend gross of $8.4 million, and has earned $18.9 million in the United States and $32.4 million worldwide.

The most positive reviews of Haywire were that the stunts were great, but Carano didn't have a huge amount of depth. Folks were optimistic that she could lead a vanguard of female-led action movies, and that didn't really materialize, at least not with her in that vanguard. Charlize Theron took that crown (and she'd been working for a lot longer to make that leap into action).

I'm pretty sure I've heard stories that all her dialogue had to be redubbed for Haywire by a different actress. So probably not the standard you want to hold up as far as career goes.

Usually a breakout performance in a successful movie leads to other large rolls. I don't remember seeing that for Gina. Not trying to pile on the heat train for her, she has already done that herself, just that you should think more carefully about who you decide to White Knight.

Which is perfect for the some supporting roles (the gruff, no nonsense fighter such as Cara Dune) but not generally for the lead. However you can get plenty of people for that type of role that aren't a PR disaster waiting to happen.

My opinion on Cara Dune, GIna was just about perfect for the role, but the character has so little personality or character value that she is easily replaceable. Would Season 2 have been any different at all if Mando happened across some other tough woman who was a sheriff (or whatever they called her) who was willing to help him out?

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney was negotiating with her, but primarily to use archival footage / stunt people to wrap up her story for good.

Not that the show is expected to set the bar for thespianism, but I thought her wooden acting still stood out.  But yeah, the role itself seems easily replaceable.

Exactly this. They could say she was killed offscreen and now her sister's in town looking for revenge, and far from getting upset over such an incredibly hackneyed cliche, the audience would be thinking "Oh cool, this new sister character has motivation to do action stuff and deliver caustic one-liners. That other character kept having to be pushed into participating and wasn't much fun."
