Dogs can't wear earplugs.

I recall some countries require silencers when hunting with dogs.

Also, other people in natural areas probably don't want to hear every gunshot for miles.

Yeah, I'm all for gun control, but this is just ignorance. Silencers don't work as depicted by Hollywood and hide the identity of a killer with a soft "pfft". Silencers turn an ear-splitting sound into an ear-splitting sound that is less likely to damage your hearing. There is no tactical advantage to a silencer in deer hunting or anything else, it just reduces noise pollution.

Best argument I've heard is to reduce the decibels when shooting (target practice) to something not deafening, though why that's better than ears (hearing protection) I have not had explained.

I'd just duct-tape a throw pillow to the front of the thing; that works in the movies, right?

I've actually been "mistaken for a deer" on several occasions while mountain biking. Twice by bowhunters, who actually drew their bows and aimed at me as I rode towards them, and one other time I was climbing past a guy who didn't return my friendly "hello" but waited till I was 30 feet or so away to say "Ya know, ya look a lot like a deer from behind". Having just watched Deliverance, I immediately suspected that I was about to be shot and raped. It quickly occurred to me however, that he was right. My brownish thermal and white camelbak were not the best fashion choice on the first day of deer season.

That and if you ever need to shoot at an intruder inside your house, you probably aren't wasting time putting on ear muffs or ear plugs.  That handgun is going to be plenty loud cracking off in a room or hallway, even with a suppressor on it.  Without one, it's going to be down right deafening.

Like I could talk about how things seem to be accelerating and that the people who are supposed to care about shiat like this don't seem to care that much leaving the average person to essentially fend for themselves, but that would mean confronting how little a regular (and sane) person is prepared for institutional breakdown, but that would be sad and depressing.

From your own article, emphasis mine:

Why Use a Gun Silencer
So if they don't make them anywhere near silent, why do people use them? It turns out, there are a lot of advantages to silencers, particularly for military usage, including:
A typical reduction in recoil of around 30%, which increases accuracy and reduces firing fatigue on the person shooting.
/Haha, it's "easy mode" for limp-wristed wannabes.

Drastically reduced flash, which can be a huge advantage for military personal, particularly in night operations or for snipers. By getting rid of most of the flash, firing won't reveal your position from a visual standpoint. This can also be a critical feature if firing around explosive gases, particularly if, before firing each round, you put a piece of tape over the silencer opening to help prevent the gasses from entering the barrel of the gun.
Silencers help significantly in masking the position of snipers, not just because of getting rid of the flash, but also for audible reasons. Snipers can effectively mask their position by positioning themselves such that the bullet will pass by large hard objects, which will reflect the "crack" sound from the supersonic bullet much more effectively than the "bang" sound from a non-suppressed shot. This will make it impossible for an observer to tell which direction the shot came from, because it will sound like it's coming from every direction in a perfectly chosen environment. Wolves actually use a similar technique in modulating their howls to make it sound like there is a huge pack of wolves surrounding something, instead of just one or two.
/Gee, can't see how this makes them useful for killing, no way, just a simple safety item!

Suppressors change the perceived sound of a gunshot enough that most people wouldn't recognize it as such, particularly in a city environment where there are numerous ambient noises.
/Huh, this one also makes it sound like it would enhance the capabilities of someone seeking to create murder and mayhem. How interesting!

Firing an unsuppressed gun in a small closed area, such as a bedroom or the like, can permanently damage hearing due to the noise being reflected back at the shooter at close range; this can also disorient the person firing the weapon. Using a silencer significantly reduces this risk.
/Well shiat, I wouldn't want you to go deaf while you're practicing your murder spree, Mr. Bickle.

Suppressors are great for saving one's hearing, not disturbing one's neighbors, and reducing one's muzzle flash (and overall signature).

Think of them the same way you think of mufflers on cars.

Fun fact: some cities/countries actually REQUIRE the use of one for noise ordinance compliance.

My bad, I did read that shiatty article and had a brain fart when I went from it to a quick google search for "why do all these wannabe murderers and terrible sportsmen insist that silencers are just a safety item"

But also, get farked. Your entire premise is a lie. Gun people think they are Rambo, they want silencers in case they decide to set up a duck blind near the highway and go crazy on the morning commute. It's not about safety, none of it ever is, you're a bunch of selfish gremlins just doing your best to shiat all over everything.
