(Premier League)   PL Friday: Arsenal and Everton in a mid-table derby of broken dreams and dashed hopes. A match of Bergmanian futility and bleakness that makes The Seventh Seal look like The Sound of Music. A tale of despair ...you get the point. 3:00 pm ET on NBCSN   (premierleague.com) divider line

Protests out in front of the Emirates

Geez, subby, I had been looking forward to taking the afternoon off work and enjoying the game. Now I think I'll just stare at a blank screen while contemplating the futility of existence.

1) You're not a Gunner and 2) you didn't discover you share your birthday with David Luiz

Are they protesting that they have to support Arsenal?

2021-04-23 2:41:53 PM
From the BBC: Arsenal have kept just three clean sheets at home in the Premier League this season, with only Everton, Sheffield United (two each) and Newcastle (one) keeping fewer.

Even I could predict goals today.

Sounds to me like we might be able to hear the protests during the match, based on the prematch interviews inside the stadium.

And to all Arsenal supporters, from a guy in Colorado where he owns 2 teams: a lot of people here thinks he's an asshole, too.

I admit I don't pay too much attention to the business world but it seems odds so many billion dollar businesses are all basically single proprietorships instead of being publicly traded companies

/I get why but it's still odd

Did he beat somebody else's wife? Because that would be very on brand for him.

Is "UEFA Conference League" the Europa League in old money?

HugeMistake: Is "UEFA Conference League" the Europa League in old money?

It's like Europa League 2. It's an extra tournament.

I saw domestic violence charges, so I assumed wifebeater. Guess he's a woman-beater and a controlling bastard.

So Intertoto Cup is really like a dirty version of the Miss World pageant?

I believe it's teh new 3rd tier UEFAS trophy that's below the Europa. Basically the Everton Cup of Europe.

You kid, but in my FM2020 save, Everton won it twice in the first 5 years of its existence.

Whenever I see Richarlison, my instinctive reaction is that if he walked into my pub, I would leave without even finishing my pint, before the fighting started.

I don't know why, it's just a vibe I get.

Penalty for Arsenal and even though I think there wasn't contact, I don't think it's a clear and obvious error and VAR will let this stand.

Delph also has the wrong socks on. They're blue and white, instead of white and blue, if that makes any sense. I can only report on what's happening.

Pickford got a little adventurous, and that's the most exciting thing that's happened in a while.

And Leno lets one by

Leno somehow lets Richarlisson's shot squeak through him and into the goal.
0-1

2021-04-23 4:35:10 PM
That has to go down as an own goal, it was going across the face until it struck Leno's foot.

2021-04-23 4:35:39 PM
That was embarrassing for Leno

Leno possessed by the spirit of Rob Green.

The Guardian rubs salt in the wound:

80 min:
If Everton hold on for this victory, it'll be their first at this stadium, their first away at Arsenal since 1996, and their tenth win on the road this season. The last time they had an away record like that, they won the 1986-87 First Division.
