Folks, always remember that Rich White Folks made sure they leapfrogged over everyone else to get vaccinated first. If the 1% want it so bad, that should tell you all you need to know.

Our intrepid Governor got vaccinated and then as soon as he had the bandaid slapped on, he removed restrictions. You are right.

I went to a mass vax site that is in a mall close to me. Both times I just walked straight through. No line at all. One week ago and 3 weeks ago. I did go on a Monday. There were at least 20 volunteer types around to direct people. About 10 doing the actual vaccination. And another 10 manning the computers and filling out the vax card. But no line at all.

...And the US will be disposing of the tens of millions of doses that Trump-Americans don't want, because it's not as if anyone else might need them....

Oh, wait. What was India's daily new case number again?

Biden's no-export policy will kill more people than the Shrub's Iraqi Adventures and Trump's domestic non-response to COVID combined.

Classifying vaccination hesitancy as a "Trump-American" problem isn't very accurate and doesn't help the problem.  You aren't going to be able to sneer them into taking it.

Likewise here in NJ, the Burlington County mega site is now accepting walk-up registration. I see open appointments at almost every time of day in the near future. Saturday has some points in time that are fully booked.

They just opened the state to 16-and-up, I'm kinda surprised they're so widely available. I don't have information to determine if it's reduced demand, increased supply, or both.

Atlantic County mega-site on the other hand, had a few hundred walk-up appointments made available this week (with lots of media coverage).

Oh no, didn't you hear? Fark has exclaimed this to be the very case. Why, we have Farkers from towns of over 500 people saying everyone around them who doesn't want a shot is a hardcore Trumper.

I got my first shot three weeks ago, and the line was out the door and halfway down the building (former department store).  Just got back from my second and I was able to walk right in.

Where I am, it's more a testament to the fact that they're doing a good job at getting people vaccinated.  Get outside our county, though, and they've had a ridiculous amount of spare capacity for weeks now.  Outside our county is hardcore Trumplandia.

It's not the vaccines themselves that are generally export controlled (ok, they are but only to a few nations), it's a list of materials that go into the supply chain for the vaccines that have export controls on them.

Over half of Americans 18 or older have had at least one dose, and 81% of those 65 or older. We could have 2/3 of adult Americans fully vaccinated by Memorial Day, and nearly everyone over 65. If you had promised that in January, I think we all would have been thrilled.

Sounds like the thing restricted is export of similar Viruses themselves that are needed in testing. Yeah restricted export of viruses seems important. It seems export to India of live viruses will get approval but isn't automatic.

When I got my shot there really wasn't more than a handful of people in line, but I think it was a steady stream. The seating area for the monitoring period afterward was always at capacity, so it looked like they had just gotten efficient in getting people in and out as fast as possible. After all, crowded rooms and waiting lines are probably scenarios they're actively avoiding.

Quite frankly I don't care if Trump-Americans get vaccinated or not. If they want to get vaccinated, then great. If they don't, then their deaths will just be an entirely deserved result of evolution in action.

The vaccine doses that Trump-Americans don't want, however, absolutely should be getting to people who want and need them. Tens of millions of people world-wide need those doses far more than the biomedical waste bins that are currently receiving them need them.

Well, I agree. But there are some politicians who are keeping fully vaccinated people locked down waiting fir these idiots to get theirs.

Washington State. Inslee has us locked down at 50% while the Trumpets refuse to get vaccinated.

The bad news is the numbers are declining because all the -C high school graduates that got their medical degree from Facebook junk science posts are refusing to get vaccinated.

1, Stop the lie that demand is falling.  No it freaking isn't.  We've been over 3 million doses a day for over 2 weeks now.
2. Mass vaccination sites are closing down because supply is outrageously high and every single corner drugstore has the vaccine.  There's no need to go 20 miles out of your way to go to a mass vaccination site when you can literally stumble out of your house and end up with a vaccine in your arm.
3. There's still plenty of places where it's fairly difficult to get an appointment, though those are becoming fewer and fewer.
4. We're up to like 80% of seniors with the vaccine and over 50% of everyone with at least 1 dose.  Sooner or later, demand has to go down because there just isn't anyone left.
5. Messaging still sucks.  Fix the freaking messaging and present people with an endgoal instead of freaking doom.
6. Virtually requires being vaccinated currently (save a few colleges), once things like air travel and schools and concerts require being vaccinated (no, not jobs.  That's illegal!), the Karens and holdouts of the world will be angry but most will begrudgingly get it.  At least, I hope they all start requiring it.

Mrs kloot and I got ours yesterday. Our doctor's medical group has a drive thru set up for their patients at one of their offices about 30 minutes away. We pulled right up, got pricked and parked for 15. While we were there 3 cars/4 people got vaxxed.

Their booking system allows for an appointment every 15 minutes 9-4. I assume they can handle about 10 cars per 15 minute block (given the number of parking spaces) and say 4 people per car then that's 160/hour or 1120/day. At the rate I saw yesterday they're probably giving 20 shots an hour. Given the relatively small amount of people eligible plus just a single location (out of 8 possible) there is no way they'll hit their max rate. I hope they are just receiving the number of doses they need.

majestic: If Trump wanted to actually help the US in any meaningful way, he'd be releasing a PSA advocating getting the vaccine.

Hahahaha! That ain't ever going to happen.

Perhaps because it has already happened? Repeatedly and often - by his entire family as well. So often now that it's not even news any more - dating back to before the vaccine(s) were even available.

Look there's a shiatload wrong with Trump but him and his family's support for and advocating for getting vaccinated is not one of them.

OH - and the fact that demand for vaccinations has fallen should be a no-brainer - almost half of the country has already received at least one dose. A huge chunk of the population - over ~60 million - are children under 16, who are not yet approved to receive it. Combined they account for over ~2/3rds of the total population. (Those who have received it + those who cannot receive it)

Put another way - over 50% of those who can receive it, have received it. Of course the demand will have fallen, and it will continue to fall. That's almost kinda-sorta the entire goal, isn't it?

Vaccination rate has fallen to 2.28 million per day over the past 7 days from a peak of over 3 million per day.

We're only at 2/3 seniors fully vaccinated nation wide as well. Maine, Vermont, and Rhode Island are the only states reporting over 80 percent of seniors being fully vaccinated.
