One can only ponder the quiet dignity and restraint with which the t-shirt vendors will address the nation's current political leadership and the ongoing effort to vaccinate citizens.

I'm pretty sure the Texas State Fair is planning on opening this fall. I hope to go. Hopefully things will look better with the virus. If not, I'll wear my mask, social distance as best as possible and eat away from people.

Is this in Entertainment because the fair is considered entertainment, or for the innumerable amounts of terrible older bands with one original member that will play there?

Many likely unvaccinated and sans masks. That's ok. That particular herd needs a good thinning.

Hmm. The mind shudders at the thought of so many unvaccinated people around, likely super-spreading. Gah. Just gah.

Social class-based eugenics have a depressingly large fanbase on Fark these days.

Given the average age of fairgoers, many of them probably will be vaccinated. You may be in for disappointment.

Relax. It was (mostly) a joke. And it wasn't aimed at social class, it was aimed at likely political ideology as there's a strong correlation between party affiliation and a willingness to get vaccinated and practice by good public health hygiene.

Except this isn't a political rally, so your joke wasn't directed at voting preferences, but rather at people who attend state fairs. Which the headline has already stereotyped as being slack-jawed hee-hawing poors, a notoriously unpopular group on Fark.

If you're going to make the joke, at least have the courage to own it. Subby did.

No one was confused by the intent of your "joke". I'm just pointing out that your brush is too broad and you're being classist rather than political. So are you steering back into "Okay, not really kidding" territory, or still half-heartedly backpedaling a little?

Don't forget, we have a Kentucky Derby coming up where a lot of twice-jabbed people are going to decide they're invincible and make some awesome decisions after having consumed a $30 mint julep too many.

How does the Kentucky State Fair compare to the Oregon Country Fair?

I'm betting the latter is better.

Yeah. When I saw everyone going without masks, saying "I am vaccinated!" I asked if they were aware of a 5-10% failure to develop response rate. Or with not knowing how long it lasts to start with. They didn't get what I meant

Hola, amigos. What's up? I know it's been a long time since I rapped at ya, but I been stressin' like a Hessian over the amount of shiat going on. But then I heard the greatest band of all time, Molly Hatchet was playing the Kentucky State Fair, so I jumped in the trusty Ford Festiva, and I was on my way. Now some people say the band isn't the same when it's only got one original band member left, and to them I say " As long as they're playing Flirting with Disaster, we are good, otherwise STFU"

So it looks like this is it for now. Jim Anchower is going down to Kentucky for a while, and who knows what's going to happen when I get there? Not me.

Adios, amigos.

I genuinely have no clue what this means. Why is everyone using this phrase all of the sudden?

It means that sociopathic assholes want to believe that the only reason anyone would try to do the right thing by their fellow humans is public self-aggrandizement. If they can twist being a decent human being into another way of being an asshole, then their own shameless assholery is just as good, or better.

Relax. Fairs are generally outside and generally not until the fall. The CDC is revising its outdoor guidance because, generally speaking, you aren't going to catch it outside,

At the current rate of vaccinations and infections we are going to be fine by late June generally speaking.

The world can't shut down waiting for the fools to decide if they want a shot. Get your shot, wait the appropriate time and go about your life.

Well I can assure everyone that's not what I meant. Just strange that this phrase is being used all of the sudden.  I swear in the last few months it's popped up in a lot of places.

I want to enjoy the fair if it happens. If covid hasn't stabilized/gone away I still may go and social distance.  I don't see how that virtue signaling at all.

So long as they keep sending Mitch McConnell to the Senate, Kentucky is more than fair game for condescension.
