Done in one.

Aaawwww. Such a big softy. Of course, he did send those kids over there and further fark the middle east for a generation (at least), but he clearly had the self awareness to be a little sensitive about the optics, so "best President ever", amiright?
/Thanks for ISIS, arsehole.

Why are they trying to bring him back? I was happy not seeing or hearing anything from him or about him for a long time.

Is it too late to send him to the Hague?

2021-04-22 6:22:37 PM
If the Shrub cared so much about the lives of US troops or their families, then why did he send so many of them to Iraq on a lie?

Who is trying to rehabilitate this excuse for a human being and why?

idiot son needs to go away and the media needs to cease helping him in rehabilitating his image and reputation.
The best thing Bush ever did was choke on a pretzel because he was drunk.

It's been weird seeing him and Boehner try to rehab their images now that Trump's gone.

F*ck you, you f*cking f*ck.

You  know, f*ck anyone in the media that's helping this war criminal rehab his image.

I know Trump is worse, but don't let them keep lowering the bar.

The GOP's strategy is racism, tax cuts, and count on Americans' short memory.

"Hey companies, we're nothing like Trump. Remember when we kept the rabble quiet **and** gave you tax cuts?"

Probably the same kind of people who worked on Reagan's image, and probably because having every Republican president remembered for their crimes is bad for the brand.

With or without media manipulation his image would have rehabilitated on its own. Time, the Healer.

Not that it buys him any forgiveness, but I think he was/is. 90% of everything can probably be laid squarely on the desks of Dick Cheney and his fellow CIA ratfarker Bush Sr.

Kimmel then asked Bush: "Would you play golf at a Trump property?"
Bush responded, "Probably not," to which the audience laughed. The former president said this was "because I like my properties here in Dallas," appearing to hold back a smile.

A chance to condemn the lunatic and you keep is breezy.  That's my Bush!

Yeah, I will. Do you think people care as much about Nixon today as they did then? I doubt you do.. Only people who have the headspace to even be aware of Nixon's crimes today will care.

For the 2024 Presidential election. There are two former Republican Presidents still alive. One of them should be in The Hague for war crimes and the other tried to overthrow the government and turn America into a totalitarian dictatorship, and therefore in the opinions of probably 50-100M Americans deserves to hang or spend life in prison with everyone who helped. One left office long enough ago for people to not really remember how bad he was. The other is barely 100 days out of office. They need someone to get people to reminisce about, so Shrub is their best option.

There ARE attempts to rehab Nixon's career with some 'hot take' on his presidency like normalizing relations with China.
/It's deliciously ironic when Trump supporters use this example then spout off about how China is trying to control everything and no one stands up to them.

He made some really easy layups calling Trump a sh*t President like so many other Republicans who didn't need votes anymore chose to do, and he makes sure to slip Michelle Obama a Werther's wherever ex-presidents gather, so now he thinks he's cute

The damage that baby has done is far from over. We'll be dealing with a literal Nazi problem for decades right here at home because of the Pandora's box he opened.

I guess the number of soldiers that came back from Bush's forever wars outnumbers Vietnam, so we'll be dealing with that for two more generations.

Both were pretty disastrous. Hard to make a direct comparison as to which was worse.

It's a character redemption tour like they do on soap operas.

I really do think W got played by Dick & Rummy, who both played on the fact that he was President when the country got attacked. And as was stated above, aQ was built with the help of a certain Cold War president who wanted to strengthen an enemy of the Soviets.

I'm not absolving him of what he personally did, but let's not assume the entire history of the problem started on January 20, 2001.

2021-04-22 6:50:44 PM
When Nixon resigned, I told everyone I knew that we would never see a worse president.

After Dubya, I told a couple people the same thing.

Lesson learned after the last guy.   Not only can it get worse, it certainly will.

It could be that they're trying to rehabilitate not just him but The Party, stick what they think is a respectable elder leader figure in front of a camera and spew enough bullshiat that people who don't pay enough attention go: "Oh they can't be all bad"

Even if Trump were to go out like Elvis tomorrow morning, his shadow will be cast over everything the Right does, and they don't want that, so trotting Bush out and having him do the pretend relatable cowboy bullshiat that got him elected the first time is one of many things they're going to be trying to do to put a new face forward.

The guy spent well over a quarter of his terms on vacation. Either it was golfing or "clearing brush" or both. His recreational accomplishments were only dwarfed by the next GOP president, the Fanta Menace.

"I think what no one in this room wants to admit is that Trump has helped all of you. He couldn't sell steaks or vodka or water or college or ties or Eric, but he has helped you. He's helped you sell your papers and your books and your TV. You helped create this monster, and now you're profiting off of him. If you're going to profit off of Trump, you should at least give him some money, because he doesn't have any."
