Ohh...you should not have stricter sentences for killing gays, trans or black people.

Ohh you should have stricter sentences for killing a cop.

TBH, I came here expecting Cruz to be the sole No vote.  Maybe Ted just forgot to be a worthless shiatstain today?

There was a cloture vote on the bill a couple of days ago, which passed 92-6, with Hawley, Cruz, Rand Paul, Tommy Tuberville, Tom Cotton, and Roger Marshall voting "no."  What do you want to bet that Cruz and other other four are 5 of of the 6 "not voting" Senators today?

Circusdog320: Assholes just turn into bigger assholes

Thats why bullies and assholes should be put down by age 18 and their organs given to those who need em.

If you havent figured out how to not be a POS by 18, society doesnt need you, all ya gonna do is become a rapist, a murderer, a wife beater, a thief, a gangster, a republican.

Put down bullies before they become adults and crime will go down by 50%+.

My money was on Ted Cruz. Maybe, Raffy was day dreaming about Cancun and wasn't paying attention enough to realize the bill was against hate crimes.

My guess was Rand Paul. I sometimes forget this new breed of R senators is worse.

Hate crimes against Asians and people of Asian descent because idiot MAGAts blame the Chinese for COVID and think (and I use that word in the loosest possible way) all Asians are Chinese.

Guessing it's either attacking someone for not wearing a mask or attacking someone for demanding you wear a mask.

I'm surprised more republicans didn't vote against it. They LOVE covid. They've been doing everything in their power to keep it spreading.

What's his rationale for these no votes?  I'm serious.  Is he making some sort of point (other than "I'm an asshole")?

2021-04-22 3:43:56 PM
In a couple of years we're going to find out that he has been committing hate crimes against Asian people.
That's usually how these things play out.

It doesn't really do anything.  It's a toothless bill that basically says 'we acknowledge that anti-asian crime is on the rise' and designates someone on the DOJ to head the effort so as to wipe out the ever-growing backlog.

It could have easily been done as an executive order.

/It doesn't create any new laws.

He a doesn't want to be another forgotten name politician.
It's one way to keep your name in the headlines by being a dick all the time. Voters most likely don't know what he's up to, or follow his record, but will vote for him next time due to name recognition only.

Which makes it all the dumber that Hawley voted against it.

I see that some money this is going to go toward hate crime training for law enforcement.

Considering how racist law enforcement is, I'm sure that will be money well spent.

Klobuchar and Smith didn't vote today because they were attending Daunte Wright's funeral.

It makes sense if you're a racist of the "All crimes are Hate Crimes!" or "there's no legal definition of Hate Speech!" variety.

Senators Blackburn, Klobuchar, Lee, Paul and Smith missed the vote according to a source.

House version of the bill is HR 1843, the bill was scheduled to be debated on Tuesday in the house but was put on hold for the Senate vote. The House may well just take up the Senate bill and pass it instead.
