"Hello, deplorables!" That's how Amy Kremer greeted the thousands of Trump supporters she had helped gather at the Ellipse in Washington, DC, on January 6

I'm really glad those wank-rags have embraced the label "deplorables" because, as the last four years have demonstrated, it's an accurate and deserved description.

No it shouldn't.  It should be openly and widely opposed, mocked, and ridiculed.

It's kind of a thing with them.

The Tea Party claimed to be "grassroots" but were quickly subsumed into and funded by deep pocket GQP donors.

Very expensive astroturf, really, but effective at promulgating the deep derp like Birthright and the like.

It's rise coincided with the rise in far right domestic terrorism and increasingly unhinged propaganda from the GQP on Fox etc.

That cheerfully noted this was an interesting dive into the belly of the derpbeast.

MoJo still has their Mojo.

Fark these people. It is because of them that every trip to visit my parents in the last 12 years has been a barrage of nonsense wedge issues. Our trip to Gettysburg was fun, except for when I had to argue I wasn't worried we were on the verge of Sharia Law taking over the US, and that I thought Obama was actually trying to get Bowe Bergdahl home (oh boy did their tone about him change quickly when Obama actually did pull that one off).

American mockery is ineffective, because in the USA, mockery points to a profitable investment for an economy that is based on conflict and alienation.

Yeah, I remember tbattime.

Their tone changed cos the script changed.

Fox before O got Bowe back: Why is O not getting him back?
Does he hate the troops?

Fox after O got him back: zOMG, Obama gave up the farm to get him back. What an idiot!

Bad faith argumentation, in a nutshell.

No.

It was the Skinner Box experiment of letting people be giant assholes in public.

After they got a taste of that it was a foregone conclusion they would try to overthrow our republic.

Another thing to add to my list of butterfly wings that led us to this situation: one woman listening to a radio station while driving on February 19. 2009. Had she tuned to any other station, had her car gone through a signal dead zone right about then, or simply not had it on, so that she never heard Santelli's rant, we never would've had the Teabaggers and all that followed from them, including Trump and 1/6/2011.

"I didn't need to stand in the shadows of Jenny Beth Martin," she said. "I felt good about myself."

And that's the whole ball game,. The core of the MAGA movement is people with enormous inferiority complexes lashing out against those who they are afraid of, much like Trump himself.

When teabaggers first became a thing my 78 yo MIL asked me what teabagging was. I thought my wife was going to choke when I started to explain what it meant. I managed to without being vulgar.

Interregnal conflict between two groups at best.
Not internecine which means between people in one group (it is two groups), or internecine which can mean destructive to both sides of a conflict (not two groups on one side of a conflict.)
Interregnal, between two governments, during a lame duck period, etc.
At best.
Internecine also implies deadly between the two groups.
Two groups getting so pissed off and killing a third isn't what it means.
And it isn't what happened.

/Jesus that was a small nit, but it was bugging me.

Are you kidding? "Internecine" is perfectly cromulent in this context:

Definition of internecine

1:of, relating to, or involving conflict within a group

"Interregnal", on the other hand, isn't even close because these assholes aren't the government.

I started reading, then decided to not waste any more time reading farking stupid whining by racist assholes who have perfected their "economically anxious" spiel for the "progressive" dipshiats who insist on continuing to give them attention. The foundation of almost all "conservative" movements is racism. The ones that aren't about racism are about sexism and/or homophobia. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. We should really stop helping these people lie. Pretending their stupid has anything to do with anything other than their intense fear of black people and their contempt for women and LGBTQ people is serving their interest and isn't helping the rest of us. We need to stop asking liars to lie to us and then pretending THEY'RE the ones at fault for it. Racist assholes will use as many opportunities to shiat out disingenuous explanations for their racism as you give them. We should stop giving them opportunities to do so.

We just keep posting stories about who's "responsible" for the insurrection, ever notice that? Every week or two, there's a new person/group/organization that is for real "responsible", then that story fades and someone else pops up. But no two news organizations have had the same bad guy. Sounds to me like they're just fishing and putting out stories to meet deadlines. I mean, this is a pretty well written piece, but it's like the umpteenth time that someone has said "This is the responsible party for sure.".

Yeah. We aren't sure if it was the Christian Fellowship, the Dan White Society, or the Jesse Helms Foundation.

Before HRC labeled them thusly, I'd only ever heard the word in the context of children or some other vulnerable living in criminally neglectful filth and squalor.

My link above went to Free Republic. TFA shows that Birtherism played a major role in the formation of the Teabaggers. Guess what else got its start in Freeperville? (Though "FARS" was almost certainly inspired by seeing an intended-to-be-helpful hypothetical scenario comment the previous day posted by one "Dave N" on The Volokh Conspiracy in an article about whether John McCain qualified as a Natural Born Citizen. That comment has been on my "butterfly wing" / "horseshoe nail" list for awhile now. And, of course, the formation of Free Republic itself. If Jim Robinson hadn't had the idea to form that 90s-era-technology webforum....)
