Most Brittish soldiers managed to serve in Northern Ireland and not murder the natives.   Prosecuting those that failed this simple test isnt "vexatious" it is "justice."

Meanwhile, the totally honest Johnny Mercer MP, is a member of the Conservative and Unionist Party of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who fervently believes that the British army's actions in Northern Ireland should be treated as though they were in an overseas warzone*.

I'd really enjoy it if someone would ask him about that inconsistency.

*I mean, I have a somewhat similar belief, that foreign civilians deserve the same legal protections as British ones.

Next week, two former members of the parachute regiment, known only as Soldier A and Soldier C, who are both in their 70s, are to go on trial

Something tells me there was originally a third suspect, but who could it B?

Soldier b was involved in a war crimes trial a few years ago vis a vis the Iraq war... Or maybe soldiers Alexander and Clarke don't want their names public... (Not the actual names afaik)

On quick inspection, soldier b has already been jailed... https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-55349226

He's right that the current government is made up of upper class toffs who think accountability is for the proles.

He's wrong that a pledge to prevent veterans from being prosecuted would be helpful to anyone other than his friends in the armed forces.

Quitting because the party won't stop investigating war crimes.  Tell me again who the coward is.

Mercer has said publicly that he had not been politically active in his younger years and the first time he voted was for himself when he first ran for office.

So a typical Tory.
