I want to tell you a secret.  Right click on the link and choose "view in (your browser's version of Incognito or InPrivate etc.).  It usually works.

Fark is neutral in this, I think most of the time it thinks you have a sub or know the way around.  Nice to see you, by the way!

The Nazis tried what their science led them to believe to be the ultimate drug cocktail for very small submarine crews.  It was a mix of meth, some cocaine, and some morphine, you know, to take the edge off.

None of the test subs ever surfaced.  Three man crew?  But the f*cking hubris!  Give them coke, meth, and morphine, they'll defeat the enemy!  I don't think they knew what LOL was at the time.

Yeah if I ever met a guy named Ylli Dadani from Albania Id assume he was a drug dealer, counterfeitter, smuggler, mafia, etc...

CBP agents searched his iPhone and found photos of him with stacks of rubber banded U.S. currency, what appeared to be an assault rifle and a semiautomatic handgun, the complaint says.

Yeah, that's not a smart move.

Did anyone check the bottom of the Ever Given?

They really need to add a drug runner mode to flight simulator.

Makes sense. His telecom company was known for "cramming and slamming" as well as using prison labor (sweetheart deals signed with private prisons bordering on slave labor). He was always dirty.

Both the American and Japanese militaries gave their pilots amphetamines on the regular.  Like baseball players could grab greenies whenever they wanted in the 70s.  IIRC, the Japanese one also included a mild constipatoral agent to help ward off the shiats on long-distance flights over the pacific.

I've had a greenie, a real greenie.  It's just an amphetamine prodrug, functionally the same thing, and yes, Asenlix is green at least at that dosage as tablets.

I don't think it's any kind of secret that amphetamines have been used by armed forces.  The Nazis went hard with methamphetamine.  The US (at least) used regular amphetamine and dextroamphetamine (the "right handed" isomer of amphetamine, the good stuff) as go pills for pilots and continued to do so while also researching adequate replacements.  Right now I think they're into modafanil, a wakefulness agent that does not provide any other effects.

I didn't know about the pooping pills provided to pilots for Pacific passages, but hey, it's in the best interest of a military to think of everything down to the decimal point if at all possible.  You want your pilots at their best, not dissatisfied completely with the status of their flight suit.  "Zero Nine radioing tower two, didn't see sh*t out here, it's not important, don't worry about it when I land, I'm just, I'm ah... I'm gonna land and refuel after about an hour.  k thx bye."

So it was less of a submarine, and more of a cocaine barnacle.

Why do criminals feel the need to produce evidence against themselves continuously? It seems like every wannabe gangster and hood have these types of pictures plastered all over social media these days. Here's a clue geniuses, ya wanna know how successful criminals dont get caught? They dont draw attention to themselves for farks sake.

I doubt that.

I've read both volumes of Clay Blair's comprehensive history of the Ubootwaffe in WWII, "Hitler's U-boat War" several times, and he doesn't mention any such incidents.

Sounds like a "This ain't no shiat!" story to me.

Now, there were some issues with the small submarines, like the Biber, Molch, and the Attractive And Successful African-German, where the crews (mostly 1 man) usually didn't come back, but that wasn't because of drugs, so much as gasoline fumes/carbon monoxide in the Biber, and other issues in the case of the other two (which were completely battery powered).

Crews were given drugs to help them stay alert, but there is no evidence it had anything to do with their deaths.  They also did that for pilots, as did the Allies.

FTFA:

While financing the trafficking ring's purchase of cocaine in South America, prosecutors say Tibbitts also worked with Didani on creating the underwater drone. Known as the "torpedo," the remotely controlled submarine would use magnets to attach to the bottom of cargo ships.

The operator could later detach the drone, which would send a GPS signal with its location. Then, prosecutors allege, the trafficking ring would send a fishing boat to meet the submarine about 100 miles off the coast of Europe and collect the cocaine.

That's not all that much different than my concept for an autonomous drug torpedo:

This concept is better though because it doesn't require an investment in batteries and it in effect has an unlimited range.

Maybe not, but by itself it's not proof of anything illegal happening.

US currency is legal to possess, as are firearms, and even if those particular firearms aren't legal to possess, just having pictures of something doesn't mean you possess it.   I've got all kinds of pictures of real machine guns, but I've never possessed one.

/Well, except maybe in the Army.

You would seem to be a good person to call my hand.  I truly wish I could turn my source up.  What is frustrating is that despite the fact you have an authoritative copy of a history, my post may end up being passed as God's Honest in fifty years.  It's disheartening when history is read better as a novel.
