JFC, this story just gets worse and worse.

Eventually we'll find out Trump had a headset and was directing the leaders to where Pence was hiding, but it was a Trump brand headset, so it kept cutting out and they never found Pence

LOL, don't worry about the hundreds (or thousands? do we have an estimated head count on this yet?) of screaming nutjobs carrying weapons and beating up the officers, concentrate on the imaginary enemies of the president.

Great jorb.

If they found out the order was given, then they must know where it originated - who actually made the call. Their head needs to be on a pike, along with THEIR supervisor and every officer who followed that unlawful order.

I freaking hate how this is supposed to somehow be revelatory or surprising. How the f*** else could it have happened??

Any other event, with all the chatter, and all the angry rhetoric and narratives behind it, would have had all hands on deck.

Now, can we please establish the motives which are equally obvious -- and start looking at all the communications of all the people that might benefit from that inaction? To see who these higher ups in the CPD were talking to in the 9 weeks beforehand and especially  the 22 days after Dec 14th?

FTA:"Lofgren (D-Calif.) revealed the finding while she questioned Capitol Police Inspector General Michael Bolton, who appeared before the House Administration Committee Wednesday to testify about security failures that precipitated the Jan. 6 attack. Lofgren, who chairs the panel, described the findings as she asked him whether he had read the internal investigation reports."

The radical right wing has truly taken over every corner of law enforcement in this country. It's time to completely dismantle it and start over. And instead of excluding those with a high IQ, they need to exclude those with a low IQ. Also, cops should pass drug tests that comply with the World Anti-doping Association (because steroids).

It has been refreshing, and encouraging.

Ideas that even a year ago were laughed off as insanity are being approached with sobriety now. People aren't completely on board with them yet, but we're at least talking about them in ways that weren't possible even just recently.

$20-25 minimum wage and UBI. Parental leave. Unions. Universal healthcare. Canceling student debt. Making postsecondary education free. Abolishing/defunding the police. Expanding the Supreme Court.

It's so nice that we're at least inching toward a better world.

And it's taken 4 months for this to be revealed?  Only to have command dummy up when confronted?  The officer that gave that command needs to be hit with sedition and terror facing capital charges.  We can't have Republicans pardoning terrorists next time they steal power.  Seeking capital sentences for those that participated in the insurrection is the only way we can be sure they don't do it again.

You know, between this and the coroner that did Floyd's autopsy refuting the cop's own official release that Floyd died from an overdose, I'm starting to think that it's really understated how much cops lie to us to protect their own asses!

Or the "cop math" they use to place a "street" value on drugs they confiscate that wildly overestimates the actual street value so they can bump a misdemeanor up to a felony.

It's only a bad idea if you assume we're just gonna leave a vacuum to keep the peace. When most people say "abolish the police," they're saying get rid of this institution because it cannot be reformed. Corruption and white supremacy is too baked into the fabric. So instead, we should replace it with something else entirely. Something more Democratic to ensure civilian oversight and allow communities to police themselves.

"My concern is that when you look at the FBI cases against white supremacists, they're not losing cases against white supremacists; the cases they're losing are the attempt to prosecute 200-plus anti-Trump protesters at the 'Disrupt J20' protest because they were standing on the same block where a window was broken.

How is it that more than 200 people were arrested at the J20 protest, and there were only a handful that were arrested at the Unite the Right protest in Charlottesville, where there was actually interpersonal violence and a homicide. These are choices that law enforcement is making. My concern is that the reason why they want that extra statutory authority is because they want to win those cases, they want to be able to prosecute Black Lives Matter protesters more easily and Standing Rock Water Protectors more easily.

There are five federal hate crime statutes. There are 51 federal crimes and terrorism statutes that apply to domestic terrorism. There are organized crime statues. There are conspiracy statues. There's plenty legal authority to address these crimes, and again they can't even tell you how many people white supremacists and far right militants kill each year because they're not sufficiently looking at that violence. There are some good agents who are doing good work in different offices around the country, but FBI leaders are not prioritizing this work.

Law enforcement is part of the problem. So empowering law enforcement is not the solution. Law enforcement already has the power to address violent crime. They're choosing not to. What Congress needs to do and what the new administration needs to do is get to the bottom of why they're choosing not to."

It's STILL a problem, even after the recent revelation that police were donating to Kyle Rittenhouse's defense fund, literally using their money to fund domestic terrorism.

I'm noticing it less and less these days. Maybe it was just the election fervor...? Or maybe, some people are seeing cops kill 15 year old girls and then antagonize the neighbors by saying "blue lives matters," at the exact same time Chauvin is declared guilty and saying to themselves, "okay, maybe this IS indefensible?"
