I always loved legos as a kid but I hated the sets. I thought it was boring to build something predetermined using an instruction manual. I had way more fun building a spaceship that I made up and could change how I saw fit than I would have had building a Lego (tm) Spaceship Set (tm).

The thing I remember building most fondly was just a lego house. It had three walls, with one open so you could move people around in it. I used almost every lego piece we had to do it.

My cousin and I used to build custom M.A.S.K. (remember those?) vehicles. Any piece that facilitated a transformation (hinges, spinners, etc), which were much rarer back then, were sequestered in their own bin marked "M.A.S.K. pieces" and coveted. accidentally taught me quite a lot about geometry and design that I still use today.

My friend and I were super nerds really into Star Blazers and actually built a 2 foot long ship like the Argo we called the Amber Fox, complete with LED lights in Control tower and the Wave Motion Gun.

I mostly agree, but the sets can teach you new inventive ways of connecting different groups of pieces.

I still don't see the jet thrusters.

Goddammit, the last time one of these went green I spent $200 on the space shuttle.  Stop it.

Same, I just bought it Sunday.

R2-D2 is due out May 1st. They couldn't wait until May 4th?

Add me to that list as well. I only have the Hubble part done so far, but should get to the actual shuttle someday...

First Lego product I have purchased as an adult.

I'm waiting for the rumored Back to the Future DeLorean in September(?).

I know a dude who made a life-size, remote-controlled replica of R2D2, from 3d printed parts. Funny to see the look on people's faces when he has it moving along the street.

The only Lego sets I've bought since I was a kid have been the Simpsons House and Kwik-E-Mart, along with the character mystery bags.

This one might be worth a minor argument with the wife.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks it's ugly?

I bet the contestants on Lego Masters coulda done better. Season 2 coming in a few months!

/used to make BSG:TOS ships out of Lego
//my brother once threw my Cylon ship off the balcony to be a dick; it lost only a few bricks
///third slashie leaves its Lego all over the floor at night

Shuttle will eventually sit with the rest of my NASA stuff. Right now it's in it's box in the storage room.

Also, double points always tempt me to buy something. Last week I gave in and got the $399 Hogwarts Castle because it's strongly rumored to be retiring this year.
