As former KGB, he fully well knows why they kept the band together after the USSR fell. And he and his buddies' actions have justified it. But, yeah, try to sell that one.

Wanna beat your shoe on a table to really nail it?

Uncle Joe appears to be taking his time strangling this pestilent garbage.  Ukraine could get VERY exciting.

US: Red line? What, this red line (steps over line)? That one back there?(steps further) Just curious about your "asymmetrical response." Does that include new red lines?

(It is an "election year" for Putin, not that it means anything...he'll talk big until the election "cermony" has concluded)

Guys, I think we should listen. If anyone is an expert on crossing lines, it's Vlad.

It's his way of saying, "Nice temporary truce there, Ukraine. Shame if something were to... 'happen' to it.".

Well to some extent he isnt completely full of shiat.

We were definitely messing around in Ukraine when Putin had his stooge in power. Thats how we came to stumble upon Manaforts involvement in that regime

Meanwhile the senate has approved a bill to sell $300 million in arms to ukraine per year...

Unless they plan to sell Ukraine brand new Abrams tanks and anti-tank missiles for like $100 each, it wont do much at all.

So we're essentially blowing money as Russia continues to move the border.

I'm not all for the U.S.A. to step into everybody's business, we need to get away from the world-police persona, but Russia's egregious actions needs a firm response.

Poor Vlad. His Parkinson's and Chlamydia have wrecked his brain so much he still thinks Trump is president.

Putin said perpetrators of any provocations against Russia will come to regret it "in the way that they have not regretted anything for a long time."

I haven't regretted anything quite so much as Putin's aide in getting Trump elected, so it's really difficult to gauge that threshold.

Funny enough, we have so many of those due to mandated production quotas in our defense budget that we could easily do just that with a lot of our military equipment. Hell, that is half the reason the military tosses a bunch of crap to local PD to keep military gear from rotting in a storage depot.

And yes, I wrote it schitclone because that's what Mango is, a clone of schit.

We are also not the only ones supplying Ukraine. Their troops were trained in old Soviet equipment. Poland, Hungary, and every former Warsaw Pact country, unloaded a lot of their old stuff on the Ukrainians.

They also got various credit lines and financial support from the EU and US to prop up their economy after Russia invasion. So they can buy some of what they need outside what they are getting from the military aid.

peterquince: Is this World War III? It feels like World War III.

Nope. Just Vlad the Impotent blustering to distract his people from the financial butt-farking they're experiencing due largely to his actions.

His political existence is utterly dependent upon his "strong man" image. Protests in teh streets of major Russian cities and western nations thumbing their collective noses at Russia's outclassed military diminish his macho image (which is largely illusory to begin with), so he has to do something "Ivan-the-Terrible-ish" to rebuild his fragile ego. This may mean additional carnage in Ukraine, but that path risks having his military units "Ukrainian separatist allies" in eastern Ukraine humiliated again. He's much more likely to engage in vicious crackdowns on protests and other internal dissent, because he can do that without as much risk of western interference.

"Since 2001, the United States has been systematically destroying a region of the globe, bombing Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, and Syria, not to mention the Philippines. The United States has "special forces" operating in two-thirds of the world's countries and non-special forces in three-quarters of them."

Where do I say that?

Or are you making a poor attempt at framing so you can ignore the actual substance of the argument.

To pretend as if the United States or US citizens can claim any sort of ground to critique Russia is to dismiss the aggression our own state has perpetuates.

Energy spent attacking the empire's enemies is energy which ought to be directed at dismantling the empire.
