I was in a part of OKC last week called Maverick. There was a chunk where the trees were all shredded. I don't know the details, but you aren't going to grow an orchard in Oklahoma

I lived in Tampa and I'm going to stick with them being the lightning capital of the US. I doubt this claim by Oklahoma. I mean, Tampa even has a hockey team CALLED the Lightning.

Okiehoma where the winds come roaring over the plains...

Near the county the video said was the worst had a rest stop with a great view over the Cimarron river.  I watched sheet lighting hit a radio tower about 30 miles to my right and then continue to another tower about 60 miles to my left.  That lighting strike was about as much electricity as the entire USA used in a month. Oklahoma would be the energy capital of the world if they could collect even a small part of that.

I got busted speeding in that valley when I was 16.  I saw the highway patrol bubble gum car on the far side of that valley about 5 miles away and figured there wasn't another cop anywhere near so I fractured a speed limit more than a wee bit. It was a gold district commandor's car or something like that.  Then I forgot about impending disaster. Opps. Minus I got clocked.  Plus, he didn't get a good lock. Minus, he knew my father. Minus I had to go do driving class. Neutral I ran into him a few days later doing tornado recovery. Plus the course he taught was at the high speed HP course and told me to show up. Minus is it was at 7am two hours away. Plus is I did better than most of the officers on the tests. Plus is I did the longest controlled slide on the hydroplane test and I never had two wheels cross the center line and I had to repeat it since no one had done that before.  16 and driving a cop car with a cop engine.  Its dark, I've got my sunnies and it is a 106 miles to somewhere.

I'll put on my skywarn t-shirt and we can go hang out in tornado weather...  I used to run the back end radio repeater car where we followed the back end of the storms and so the back end spotters could talk to the idiots guys on the front end of the storm where the tornadoes were forming.

That's pretty cool. I love lightning. Don't get too much in CNY
