So I got back home yesterday and the yard looks like it's been abandoned for years in some post-nuclear war hellscape. Seriously, I had no idea this part of the country even had this many types of weeds, let alone they could all grow in the same kind of soil. This looks like the kind of place a college botany professor would beg to take his class on a field trip.

So I took a look at the mower, and, well, the winter has not been kind. One of the tires has gone flat and come off the rim, and is so distorted from the weight being on it for so long that I can't just air it back up with the compressor. So after a couple of phone calls, It's gonna be $45 for a new tire plus another $15 to mount it. I'm beginning to see how much I was undercharging people when I was a kid trying to earn enough on lawnmowing to buy a Nintendo.

I live so far in the boonies my Internet connection is through a cell phone that's tethered through a couple of routers.

And what neighbors I do have are so old that *I* am the local kid.

I picked up a cellular wireless hub from my cell phone provider.  Battery operated (c/w wall adapter), connects to cell towers and gave me faster speeds than tethered to a cell phone.  I love it for camping and doing paperwork at my gold claim.  The data plans were way cheaper than a cell phone data plan.

I'm paying $25/month for Verizon's network with unlimited 4G data, usually about 15-20 Mb/sec (2 bars). I don't think I'm going to beat that anytime soon. (I use about 200 GB/month)

The downside is you can only tether one device at a time, so I made that device a router, then ran an ethernet cable to another router to share wifi to the house. Took a bit of programming through DD-WRT, but I made it work. It's pretty stable.
