Herculaneum didn't have plumbing.  All those old cities probably smelled pretty bad.

There aren't too many Papyrologists in the US.

Yeah, I mean, what's the point.  Mp papyri, no papyrology, that is the way of Landru.

Heh.  Maybe the sulfur smell from Vesuvius covered it up.

My Secretary is secret.

FWIW, I had to buy a new refrigerator.  My 17-year-old one pooped out last week, and they wanted $500 to fix it.  One of the new ones I looked at looked like the Ark of the Covenant.  It was pretty, but instead I got one that produces spherical ice.  It just arrived after five days with ice and a cooler.

That is a definite possibility.  Two shows with no Nazis or Mummies, Oprah is slipping.  I have seen commercials with Oprah, though.

I want to get a new fridge, but I would have to take down a wall to fit a new one.

My son got me some Liquid Death water.  I'm sure he didn't mean anything untoward by it.  It is pretty good, for water.

I have that gargoyle, the one that is hanging over the side.  Those are really beautifully-made bookshelves.  Some titles are reading vertical from the left, like the Irish Folklore, some from the right.   Can see your pipes.  It looks like you have room for ancient scrolls.

Some day robots will learn how to read, and will read all the books.  The knowledge will be preserved in digital form on remote planets.

AI bots will know what you like to read and will scan the archives of billions of books for things you might be interested in.  Then you have to balance your opportunity cost to read some things of the billions of texts that can fit into your available time.

There will be ethical issues, whether you trust the robots to give you the real deal.  But , like you said, if they could synthesize new intelligence from the corpus of knowledge, instead of having the knowledge have to go through meat first, and have the corporeal meat try to access what they can through their limited reach, as opposed to the dark, cold, cloud of knowledge being processed, and congealing all the knowledge, then, then, maybe science could grow at an explosive rate.  But, to what end.  What does the robot want to do with the knowledge, except to serve man.
