Insipid and chemical flavors aside, anybody who can constantly keep cake in their fridge and eat a slice every day without ballooning into a Person of Walmart clearly doesn't love other food enough. If you eat cake every day, how do you fit in the ice cream, pie, cookies, brownies, muffins, cheesecake, trifle, jello, caramel corn, candy, etc? Not to mention the real food that's so caloric that you have to skip dessert? Have some variety in your life, lady!

/not as fat as I sound
//still pretty chubby though
///walking to get cake isn't enough to explain it

I wouldn't call it "best," but it's OK by me as long as it has real icing/frosting and not that whipped cream crap on it.

The woman who wrote the article may have a problem.

I mean, I like cake, too. But that's next level.

tintar: MIL bought a layer carrot cake for my recent birfday. it was... really no complaints here. walnuts, raisins, cream-cheese frosting. I enjoyed it.

my own scratch carrot cake? is farking phenomenal. but the severe-time-cost and the money-cost, and then people often not even eat a slice (pffft, philistines) - but a grocery store cake? is always guaranteed to disappear.disappoint.

sorries/not-sorries attempted-Subtroller, I'm ok with this.

FTFY.

More Cake related facts:

- Alton Brown says boxed cake makes better home cakes because ingredients
- Rose Levy Beranbaum's cake books are the best but I will punch her if we meet
- "Cake Boss" guy makes truly excellent cakes, very dense but too expensive, but I like fondant
- Chocolate frosting in the can is my cracktonite (Like kryptonite and crack...well you get it)
- That TV show "Cake" is pretty good, Oh, Jerome, No.

Tired_of_the_BS: I'm not much of a dessert guy, I go years w/o pie and/or cake; not because I don't enjoy them, (although they tend to be overly sweet to my taste), my health isn't great and stuff like that doesn't help.

Bread otoh... I all but quit eating that too and I freaking dream about it... it calls my name.

Anyway, the last piece of store bought cake I had was something called a 'Sock it to me' cake at Walmart; and damned if I didn't think it was quite good.  Wife and kid inhaled it and got a second the following week.

/Now they go around that part of the store..
//Wife swears Wegman's chocolate chip cookies are evilicious us as well.

I've had that before and it was good. The bakery section at Wal-Mart has been getting a lot better recently, sometimes even better than Kroger. Their white frosting still sucks balls though, like in the sandwich cookies, which seem like the whipped frosting.

Trocadero: IAmRight: Skittles obviously stand alone. I would never put them in a cookie. THAT is some serial killer sh*t.

/Although I'm kinda making myself curious...

I have no idea whether this is a good idea or not. I'll let you report back to us.

C'mon, I'm a reasonable man. I was clearly talking about trying out a couple of murders to see if serial killing was right for me, not something deranged like Skittles in cookies.
