Makes sense. Supply and demand at work here.

We absolutely jumped on our travel plans early this year, but also allowed for vacations that could still be socially distant in the event that our vax program goes a little sideways (see: Chile, UK) or variants break through and create another wave.

In the meantime, just the exuberance of freedom -- and providers' need to make up for last year -- are going to shoot through the roof.

Book shiat now, especially if it's refundable. Rental cars, some VRBO/ABNB properties, select airfares, etc. You can always rebook later if by some fluke it's cheaper.

Last I checked, airfare to Germany was incredibly cheap. We can't go there but still, it's so cheap!

"Airlines are chasing what's called demand," continues Miller. "Where tickets are being sold, they are putting airplanes."

Ground breaking stuff, Sam.

Rental car?!  You're better off just buying a cheap one from someone when you get to where you're going.  I'm seeing like $150 PER DAY for a rental.

When you guys blither on about stupid and irresponsible people who are too selfish to curb their behavior to help out everyone, do you include all the first-world pigs who think that their personal consumption is something to be proud of, instead of just narcissism?
Like those people who brag about how often they fly to foreign countries, or how many places they've been to?  Or those people who live large and never think about a thing except their next funtime?

I bet you don't include THOSE people.  I wonder why.

Difficulty: 7 people plus luggage with nearly zero possibility of mechanical problems. That basically rules out Turo, etc.

Solution: $500 for a week in a minivan, but I had to check about 5 different times on different days to even see anything below $1,000.

I booked travel to France, and Italy, next year. Booking early made sure the tickets were fully refundable if anything goes awry.

LOL, you said in another thread that you work in the service and hospitality industry. You'd probably have a healthier release valve for your hostility if you simply took a step towards doing something you don't actively hate. And yet you don't.

I wonder why.
