Why?  They're attacking journalists, everyone at Fox News is safe.

2021-04-20 7:57:11 AM
When you militarize the police, you get people who are trained to break sh*t and kill people. It's also another reason why you don't use combat soldiers to rebuild and "democratize" a region.

You were warned this would happen. Don't be shocked by it. Do something to fix it.

It's too late.

2021-04-20 8:36:22 AM
Wait a minute.
If the police are targeting journalists then the FOX employees should be safe.

There's only five posts so far. I think I will make a joke about Fox News Reporters being safe, since they aren't real journali-- DAMMIT.

2021-04-20 10:14:33 AM
"Now I know reporters aren't too popular these days. But some of them take risks to cover the news."

Trump increased death threats to journos several times over so LOL at this.

Also by "some" they mean "even white ones who aren't filthy libs"

That's how you do 'done in one', right there.

Now? They have been. Blinded an eye of at least one reporter last year. If anything the lesson they learned after the protests last year was to go after the media first to get them out of there so there would be less on the ground coverage of their actions towards protesters.

2021-04-20 10:17:31 AM
Why? There under no threat.

And when police preferentially hire people with service in the military...  Where they're trained to assume everything is a threat and neutralize it immediately...  They're coming into the job with habits one would not actually want in a force that is not supposed to look at populace as its enemy.

Imagine, if you will, conservatives that only realize something is a serious problem when it directly impacts them.

oh... and also... Fox employees should be safe, I heard they're only targeting journalists.

This is an increasing trend, worldwide.

JFC - these incidents are straight fascism.

And Fox can go f*** themselves -- they've spent 35 years poisoning these folks.

Plus the US military has the UCMJ to take care of issues involving soldiers acting unlawfully.

With police, they have qualified immunity and are bestest buddies with local prosecutors.  Of course the cops will act like the laws don't apply to them.

I really, really wish this had been said by a real person instead of a fictional character, but it rings true nonetheless.

The man they installed as president said the media was the enemy of the state.  What did they expect would happen.  Even rush limbaugh understood that words mean things.

Fox News still has to get its news from journalists, even if they don't do their own factual investigations.

I was happy to see they had Trey Gowdy there to provide some color commentary.

The two scariest words I can think of, even scarier than nuclear war, are constitutional convention.

Can you even begin to imagine the nonsense they would enshrine?

"Well, we had a convention, and the old constitution is out. The new constitution is "Whatever Trump Wants" written on the side of this gun. 'MURICA!"

Love it.  It's not the racism that started the race war, but the talking about racism that started it.

You think the cops are out of control now?  Just wait until Chauvin walks free.  When the pigs find out they can literally get away with torturing a man to death while being recorded by multiple cameras, they will know they own the place.

What's a journalist?

Do I require corporate backing for these protections vs normal civilians, or can I take a course and sign up? Can I buy a license?

A Fox opinion writer almost completed a piece with a thoughtful, critical message.

But it wasn't to be:

"These are authoritarian tactics, and local politicians and officers can no longer attempt to blame such misconduct on Donald Trump. It is another blow to the tarnished reputation of Minnesota and its largest metropolitan area. We can only hope the George Floyd verdict doesn't lead to more protests and more violence, with journalists caught in the middle."

For press credentials when covering something like this you apply and get them from the police department local to that area you are covering. At least in MN.

So who gets to decide if you're granted press protections are the very police ignoring them.

When they get to be riot police, they have no accountability.
There are no body cameras on them.
They have no identifiers.
They get to anonymously riot.
And they love it.

We should at least have visual identifiers so when crimes they commit are documented, we can track down the specific criminal that committed the crime.

Granted - didn't mean to imply that you were wrong - but it's important to remember that it can be undermined by treacherous, treasonous, and incompetent civilian oversight.
