Should have pulled the brakes on that train in the 1980s.

Struggling to rein in nativism while chastising a black Congresswoman for being uppity?

I think I see a small flaw in their plan.

He's right, you know. They definitely don't support dog whistles. They are the party of overt nativism.

Can't we just call it racism?

I'm willing to accept that this limp-dick word "nativism" has been around and somehow with all the media I consume and books I've not been exposed to it until recently.
These people are racists. It's almost entirelywhite Republican men and women who are out to fark over everyone who is not them.
I know I barely know my letters with my meager little high school diploma but that sure sounds like a racist piece of shiat to me.

Or, a better question:  am I the only one who finds the word "nativist" a gentle way of saying "racist piece of inbred garbage"? If so why are we being gentle with these people.  It's like those creepy farkers who are pedophiles but because their victims are over whatever age that puts them into young-adulthood they have some other less well known name they try to brand as "pedophile lite".
I'm really trying to stay away from absolutes in life but I really have a hard time calling a racist anything other than a god damn racist.

I'm more than willing to take correction here. It just seems like a limp dick word.

McCarthy said Monday that he will introduce a resolution to censure Waters over what he called "dangerous comments."

I can't recall the press covering any fruitless attempts at legislation by the Dems when they were in the minority, or for that matter any of the scores of bills they passed as the majority in the House that died in the GOP Senate.

Yeah, how dare a female of color show her face after the curfew set by the man?

Hey, it's 2021.
Stop killing black people for exiting, then making it illegal to be "uppity" about it.

How about that? Think you can catch up?

draft policy platform for a proposed caucus that called for promoting "Anglo-Saxon political traditions" and infrastructure that reflects "European architecture."

John Boehner is going around the media circuit basically saying "I don't know how this happened."

Nobody buys it because he was gleefully watching the Tea idiots attack Obama and bounce the Democrats after 2010. The "moderates" invited these monsters in and offered them a seat at the table. Now they can't complain when these monsters devour their fellow dinner guests.

You really thought you could control these monsters.

Yeah the President calls for domestic terrorists to go to the Capitol building to stop the election and kill THEIR second in command, and any other Congressmen they could, and we get this.

I pay for one thing on Youtube, a $1 a month patron payment to Christo Aivalis because he really is on point with new info every day on the Repubs. Even he said that Maxine went too far and may cost us a mistrial in the Chavin case.

The conservatives are flat out evil and have no problem screaming for mercy on the rare occasion they actually get caught dead to rights, the liberals have no spine and want to give everybody "the benefit of the doubt" and are far more Jesusy that the conservatives giving forgiveness for anything done, with no consequences.

Actually, the platform draft referred specifically to "aesthetic value that befits the progeny of European architecture". I find it makes more sense, therefore, to presume they're really talking about the fornications.

The terms aren't fully interchangeable, though. Nativism is a political position that prioritizes those born in a country over immigrants (which means a strong anti-immigration stance), which is usually pretty racist in practice, but it's not what racism is. The term exists because of a need for it in political science, not to try to paper over the racist part. Nativists generally don't like being called nativists, anyway.

I give it about one more election cycle and we will be right here. Sad, watching the end of an ideal, but when that ideal has been so corrupted and tweaked to extreme positions, we get this.

Yeah we might see catfights soon. However, the conservatives are the ones that are the extremists. The liberals in this country are not liberals like in Europe, or leftists to the degree of Europe or as far extreme left as North Korea, which is not liberal. Healthcare for one. There is no reasonable side to care for human life, that is a center issue, for instance.

Problem is that it's super hard to tell a black woman she's gone too far with her comments. Especially problematic when it's white people piling on her. I feel like most white people I know, including myself, lack the perspective to draw that line.  Sure we can be angry and we can protest and read all kinds of books to help us understand but we still wake up the next morning as a white person.
If I was a middle-aged black person right now I'd be so very tired of waiting for my white allies to get up to speed while the same shiat that our grandparents marched for is still happening.
I frankly don't have the privilege or context to tell a black woman to close her mouth during this. Just about anything that's gonna come out of it I back 100%.

Is it left or right or center to want people held accountable and have consequences? She was too reserved. She should have called them what they are, white supremacist Nazis.
